Guessing he must have made a positive impression in the couple of training sessions he's taken part of. Those comments would hint that he'll spend some time with the U23s still, which is definitely a good idea at least for the short term.
Perhaps, but if we abandon Sancho and focus on bringing in a top DCM and CB, then it's something I could live with. We'd still need to get a viable option at RW (a cheaper/less high profile one) unless the plan is to shift Rashford there, which could be a possibility as well. By any reasonable estimates, Diallo is not going to be fully ready anytime soon.
Solskjær: "Amad [Diallo] has looked really comfortable and he’s settled in really well in training. It shows how technically adept he is and, of course, we’ll give him time to settle and adjust, but hopefully we can see him on the pitch in not too long." #mulive [mu]— utdreport (@utdreport) January 16, 2021 Solskjær: "He’s [Diallo] definitely done well in training." #mulive [mu]— utdreport (@utdreport) January 16, 2021 Solskjær: "He [Diallo] will be training [with us] and let’s see when he’ll get his first game-time – if it’s from the bench with us or with the Under-23s, likely to be the Under-23s of course." #mulive [mu]— utdreport (@utdreport) January 16, 2021
After his performance with the u23's and the first team attackers looking tired, he's probably going to need to see minutes sooner than most think. The next u23 game is Friday. If he performs again, i can imagine him getting in the squad for the FA Cup.
I was surprised by how good he was tbh. Not just his ball skills (good passing and dribbling) but his movement, his positioning. His work rate without the ball. I think he should be on our bench really soon. If he plays just as well or better in the next u23 match I'd guess Ole wont hesitate to have him for the FA Cup.
Official: #mufc have added Amad Diallo to their A-list for the Europa League #mulive— utdreport (@utdreport) February 3, 2021 Jones has been added as well...
The positioning especially in transition is what stands out to me. There are a lot of kids who can pass and dribble but he takes up such good positions when the ball is won. He doesn't just hare off up the pitch, he'll either occupy a defender and drag him out of position or find space and show for the ball.
🗣 Dan James - "For a young lad, he has been unbelievable in training. His professionalism is very good and he has settled in right away. We see his quality in training, he has unbelievable feet but he also presses well and wins the ball back, which is exactly what we want." pic.twitter.com/07hWcSgg2y— UnitedReds (@UnitedRedscom) February 23, 2021
That was some goal. An excellent run and a clever reaction to put that ball in with his head. Maybe it's true when they say in Italy they were slow to get him. United may very well have a real steal on their hands.
I wonder if we have the balls to start giving him longer cameos now. At first I didn't understand why he was given time at LW already multiple times now, but the more I think about it, it is probably an attempt to get him interacting w/ the overlapping/underlapping action. I hope we just try to get him playing more often w/ AWB so that they can develop synergy. Very clear to me Amad understands space at a level above most of our players.
There may be no choice: looks like Cav, Rashford and Martial are all out right now. Shame that injuries are the reason why Diallo could be getting an opportunity domestically but our options are shrinking fast upfront...
Lets pump the brakes a little. Great goal yesterday but outside of that he was very average. His movement looked good but on the ball he was pretty sloppy and didnt do much. From the little I've seen so far, he definitely doesnt look ready to be an every game player for the senior squad. Sancho should still very much be a priority.

Galli [arranged trial at Atalanta]: “Amad’s unique but he must make himself stronger but make sure he does not lose his speed, which is a quality that distinguishes him from others. He has all the qualities to be a candidate for the Ballon d’Or in the next 5 years." #mufc [Goal] pic.twitter.com/F0gpa5oogV— United Zone (@ManUnitedZone_) March 25, 2021
