Well now that we have the W-League, the WUSA, and the WPSL anyone think there is a chance we're going to see a women's version of the US Open Cup start?

    There sort of is one:

    (scroll down to end).

It is not a USSF event, but a USASA event. The WUSA teams do not enter.

Then what is the difference between "Women's Open Cup" and "Women's Amateur Cup?" If the pro teams don't enter, why have duplicate competitions?

I have heard that there are plans in the works to have a Women's USOC in the next few years, involving the WUSA, WL, and WPSL. Being a women's soccer fan, I'm very excited to hear that, but I'm curious about specifics. Also, my understanding of lower division women's soccer is a bit fuzzy. As I understand it, the WPSL was formed by a few disenchanted former W-League entrants. But the USSF for some reason also classified the WPSL as a Div II league, like the WL. I wish the USSF would reclassify one of those two as a Div 3 league, at least so it doesn't seem like the two leagues are fighting against eachother. Might make for less confusion in constructing an USOC for women too.
