Women's Quarter-final - Match 21 Spain vs Colombia Lyon Stadium, Lyon Saturday, 3rd August, 2024 8:00 am PDT 17:00 Paris time https://olympics.com/en/paris-2024/results/football/women/qfnl000200-- https://www.fifa.com/en/match-centre/match/509/286068/286074/400015685
i am. But there is very little to talk about. Colombia has already rope-a-doped their way to a two goal lead and it seems that Spain is unable or unwilling to come out of their shell and really ATTACK. They pass the ball around and around and around and around and end up with a nothing shot much of the time or no shot at all. It "should" be 3-0 as Spain just can't currently defend.
Out of a "Pachinko" play in the box Spain pulls one back. They have somewhere between 10 and 16 minutes to get another. I think that Spain is very unlikely to get that "other" goal.
Spain is finally coming to life but they seem to have no real clue as to how to get another goal. There has been a several minute delay due an injury to Colombia's 'keeper. The "added time" could go from the 10 that was announced to 20 or more. .
This is going to overtime/ Since Spain has managed to tie it I do not see any way for Colombia to win as they have sat back for too long and it will be VERY hard to come out of that shell.
Spain win in PK's. I thought Colombia was going to get through, but Spain managed to find a way to get the result.
Well done for Spain to battle through and get the pk win but I feel that this team has regressed, or at least is not in a good moment. Not a fan of their current coach who is a remnant of the Vilda coaching staff.
Vilda’s team were far superior tactically. This team has looked pretty average since the WC. The Euro teams have had a brutal schedule since the WC though. Continuously playing competitive games. They all deserve a summer break.
Definitely agree with all of that. Vilda was one of the better tactical coaches in the women's game. He just was a crappy woman manager, which it seems to be of more importance (at least in comparison to the men's game)
Spain's keeper gave her team the chance they needed with her big save with, I'm guessing, about 20 minutes left and Spain down 0-2. Colombia scores that goal to go up 3-0 and they win the match. Isn't Colombia a very physical team? Was it England that stopped playing midway through the 2nd half of a pre-WC friendly against Colombia because the coaches were afraid players might get hurt?
The only game that England played against Colombia was the WC QF that England won 2-1. It indeed was a very physical game.
It was Ireland and Colombia, not England, and it was a closed-door match. And it was only about halfway through the 1st half when it was abandoned.
