Wolfsburg starts with their B-team. This is your chance, Fiorentina! Das sind unsere Startelf und unsere Bank für das Duell gegen die @ACF_Womens. ⚔🐺#VfLWolfsburg #VfLWolfsburgFrauen #Wölfinnen #UWCL #WOBFIO pic.twitter.com/Ff8Q959q97— VfL Wolfsburg Frauen (@VfL_Frauen) September 25, 2024
Not an actual B-Team, but of course Fiorentina don't have much to ask to this game, so many important starters (Vero Boquete, Madalen Janogy, Michela Catena; Alice Tortelli) are being rested for the domestic league. Is Cecilie Fiskerstrand one of them, or is actually Francesca Durante managing to take her place? We'll anyway see some interesting reserves as Karin Lundin or Lucia Pastrenge in the attack-line. These are the starters: Wolfsburg (4-3-3): Schmitz; Wilms, Wedemeyer, Minge, Rabano; Huth, Hagel, Kielland; Jonsdottir, Kalma, Endemann. Fiorentina (4-3-3): Durante; Erzem Filangeri, Toniolo, Faerge; Johannsdottir, Breitner, Snerle; Bonfantini, Lundin, Pastrenge I'll very loosely follow the first half-hour of the match, then I'll pass to much more relevant Servette-Roma. Edit: while I was writing that, I have already missed Wolfsburg's first goal, although I just missed 3 minutes of the game!
Whoops, wrong day! So, I'll have to be content to this depressing Wolfsburg-Fiorentina for today (or Roma's match will conflict with Juventus' one! ).. I hope at least Sveindís Jane Jónsdóttir can have a good entertaining game, since she's a player I like.
Just to lift spirits, meanwhile, Everton just announced that Aurora Galli ruptured her ACL, so her season has ended after just one match of FA-WSL. Not much likely that she recovers in time to play Euro 2025.
Francesca Durante basically hypnotized Wolfsburg's player (who was she? ): that's why she missed. Edit: Oh, ok, it was Wilms.
Wolfsburg 2-0 Fiorentina at HT. I'll soon go to dinner, not afraid to miss part of this match. I am sure @Lohmann will anyway duly update the score for me.
Not sure: I've got the feeling that by then Fiorentina will be too much tired and Wolfsburg will easily score the goal to settle the 3-9 final result.
