Juventus 2-1 PSG at HT. It could be that finally Sofia Cantore reached her maturity: the whole personal action leading to the goal was a thing of beauty. And Juventus look more solid than I expected: so far, the advantage is deserved. We're going to see if they're going to keep it in the second half.
In Firenze, it's already 0-1 at 5': it was an header by Marina Hegering, from a simple CK action. I'll better get myself a coffee, it could be a long night...
Yes, Hanna Bennison, who, as I had predicted just before the start of the season, is revealing an excellent signing for Juventus. Not easy for me to follow two matches at the same time!
Marina Hegering again, from a FK. Fiorentina's defending of set pieces is abysmal! 0-2, I see no comeback from this.
All the veterans on the pitch: Barbara Bonansea too, back from her muscle injury from the pre-season.
Kopfballungeheuer was the nickname of Horst Hrubesch because he was so good at headers. Meanwhile Popp only hits the post with her header.
Every set piece is a goal for Wolfsburg! Now it's Alexandra Popp at 37'. Fiorentina is virtually out of the Champions' League, but now some dignity needs to be somehow saved.
No dignity saved: 0-4 at 43', by Jule Brand. Can we make a deal that the 2nd Half won't be played tonight?
Yes, but I had figured that Juventus' task vs PSG was on paper much harder than Fiorentina's. Juventus is keeping a 3-1 advantage instead, with just a pair minutes of additional time to play (crossing fingers). The result for Italy will be the same, but before today I would have expected opposite results from these two matches.
Juventus 3-1 PSG FT. A win that was unexpected before the match but was entirely deserved for what's been seen on the pitch (although in this 2nd Half I was sometimes distracted by the bloodbath in Firenze ). I suspect that PSG lost a consistent part of their offensive power when they lost Tabitha Chawinga to OL. Of course the double-header is not won yet, there is a difficult second leg to face in Paris, but Juventus can see the group stage now.
It's not just that I was overlooking Wolsfburg, on the contrary, I was seeing them as a tough opponent (you can go back some pages on this very thread to check out what I've said about that), but is seemed anyway "playable" to me. It's more that I thought PSG was much stronger!
