Back to Molineux. This is the least important of the three competitions we are in. We play in the most important one on Tuesday. I would be tempted to make major changes for this one. But at the same time, losing to the bottom of the league team twice in one week would yet another low point of this season.
Yeah - I would've thought the same...but I would have put out the strongest team we have yesterday, expecting to cruise through the game...then rest the "starters" on Friday and play the kids...and then put out the "strong" team again on Tuesday...But...
Not sure we can stick our noses up at any competition at this point. I'd play a relatively strong side while trying not to risk anyone (wirtz). With how difficult our path is to the final, and how bad we are at controlling games I don't see us winning the Champions League.
Slot says that Wirtz can possibly play a few minutes. With our luck, he comes on for a few minutes, Wolves get a later equalizer, and he ends up playing an extra 30.
OK - Honestly - I expect us to win today...they beat us on Monday, we've had three days to figure things out... Come out like this game is important! Start to finish, play to win! Come on you REDS
Slot pregame: “It's important, the three aims we have now [CL, FA Cup, top-five finish] - not before the season started - but we want to be in the Champions League and it is important for this club financially, I mean. The season when I arrived, there was a reason we only signed Federico Chiesa and that was because the season before we were in the Europa League. We know we are in a transition and a transition works better when there is money available. "We always knew the signings we made would be a big success but we always knew it might take some time. It has been shown with the games every three days, that intensity has been something new for a few of them. "Maybe even more now we have lost, we want to make up for it. I hope all the players feel the same as me, we want to make up for the loss and the performance we had. So in that sense it is a good thing we play them again."
Who would start instead? I’m glad he’s resting the most important one, Ekitike, with more important games ahead.
Szoboszlai kicks the ball into Gomez' head and then 5 minutes go by where we can't get the ball back. Jones the only one even trying to press.
Slot seems to have embraced the Arteta philosophy of: the only way we are going to score is with a set piece.
Mac Allister now taking ages to set up a set piece routine from a position which should be one where we just take it short and get on with the game. It is Liverpool who is sucking the momentum and flow out of the game.
I remember Klopps Team and our Front three…We would look like scoring on every foray forward ..So much incision ,zip and class…Comparing it to today’s slow, ponderous and uninspired football!!!! Sigh
