Losers We did pretty much the usual this season for the first 75 minutes...passed the ball around, and back to our GK - no real drive, no real intent... Then they score on their first shot of the game...in the 78th minute...and suddenly, it turns into an end-to-end game...which they won...
I don’t know what I’m more baffled by: a manager that is setting up a team with no clue how to attack, or a sporting director who built a a squad whose only wide threat is 17 years old and who the manager won’t use.
Wasn’t the first time Several times our players just watched and looked around as Wolves won the second ball in front of 4 reds uncontested Klopp would have crucified them
Exactly the game I watched Your Champions mother********ers ….Go out and play to Win and open them up
We have one injury in the forward line….Isak. Even if Isak is fit, would he make that much of a difference? The manager showed no plan for how he and Ekitike can play at the same time. How has one injury to a forward left us praying for the manager to bring on a 17 year old match after match? This is not an injury crisis that has put us in this position. It is piss poor squad planning. At the same time, the manager has not done a good job of finding solutions. It is just poor all around.
Yup its baffling that Slot cannot seem to manage us through these relatively minor challenges (the 20th placed team I consider a relatively minor challenge, even away). The squad was not well architected, but we really should be getting results here.
Haven't we been basically catastrophic against whoever the bottom 3 or 4 were whenever we played them?
I think Ali’s distribution and ball playing ability is overrated. Still a fantastic keeper - but I’ve never understood those ahouts
It's deteriorated after the last few hamstring pulls. But before he was amazing - some of those long assists - no other keeper was doing.
I think it’s declined. He used to be one of the best, but his kicking this season has been way below par. Maybe it’s a result of one of his injuries?
Well, this is awful. We started to show promise and then the last 3 games happened. We got lucky twice but your luck tends to run out. We know now how crucial Wirtz has become. Mo scored... That's something.
I don’t think Gakpo is a bad player. He was very good last season. However, by building a squad in which he is the ONLY left winger, we are ruining him. He plays game after game after game regardless of his form. Fans get more and more frustrated with him. His confidence erodes to the point where he is contributing nothing. It’s the same thing that happened with Konate earlier in the season. Konate went through a really rough period. Perhaps because of things going on in his personal life. Since he was our ONLY option at centerback, he continued to be picked every single game to the point where his confidence was on the floor and committed a major screw up every game. Now we are watching some really poor performances from Mo Salah. But once again Salah is the ONLY right winger in the squad.
We are at our level this season - we just don't have the cohesion, coaching, or depth to put together any kind of winning streak anymore. probably need to win 6 of the last 9 - which is a huge ask.
3 steps forward, 1 huge step back to 6th as soon as Chelsea win. VVD, Gakpo, Kerkez, Gravenberch and Mac reverted back to their poor season form - shocker! I'll won't criticize Mo as at least he scored a goal. We've seen this match many times this season where we play down to a much weaker team's level. Slot has no answers to crap teams. I know it's a cold midweek night in Wolverhampton but at least you need to show up competitive. The recent win streak was all but papering over the cracks. WestHam was an anomaly and nothing can be gained/learned from that except 3 points on the board.
Harsh. He was focused on the ball and got bumped off balance from behind. Hardly manhandled. There's just a false narrative that he's been crap this year when he hasn't. Most clearances — 215 Most clearances per game — 7.7 Most aerial duels won — 136 Most aerial duels won per game — 4.9 Most passes completed — 2,144
I think last night was yet another real illustration of our critical need to upgrade both wings. Salah whose form has generally been dire this season was a passenger again despite scoring. Cody on the other side is just okay rarely great and he's another who has been largely ineffective. So between the two wingers there's been a lack of goals and both have been blunt weapons which is not good enough for a side with Liverpools ambitions.
In the 5 games Liverpool lost after 90mins, Ibu was on the pitch for one, Man CityCost:Benefit analysis this summer..... pic.twitter.com/uxOmqLztJp— SimonBrundish (@SimonBrundish) March 4, 2026 These late goals that we are conceding are not just about players losing their heads, bad luck, or fatigue. They happen because the manager’s original plan doesn’t work, he is forced to try something completely new to chase the result, and we end up with a back line completely different to the one that started the game. The back 4 when Wolves scored the winner was Jones right back, Gomez centerback, and Robertson left back. Virgil was the only starting defender still on the pitch. Gomez and Jones were both subs who were playing in a different position than the one they were brought on for.
The first goal was! Arokodare usex his 6'6" frame to easily bump him off to the side and laid the ball on for his player to finish. Virgil needed to be sronger there. If that was Ibou, there would have been a lot of noise.
