The good news... Wolves beat Everton 2-1 on a late goal from Carl Cort, pulling them off the foot of the Premiership table, and tied with Leeds for 18th on 32 points. The bad news... Manchester City won against Newcastle 1-0 meaning that Wolves are now all but relegated. For Wolves to survive, Manchester City would have to lose their last 2 matches, Wolves would have to win their last 2 matches, and make up a 35 goal advantage that Man City has. It will either take a miracle, or a blatant case of match-fixing at this point. So, it's going to be one and down for Wolves, but... -We weren't the first team down, as many thought we would be, and in the end, we may only go down on goal difference. -There is still a possibility that we'll finish 18th in the league, not 20th, as again, most predicted. -For the fans, we out-pointed, and may still out-place Albion! (Albion finished 19th, on 26 points last year, and were relegated well before Wolves were this season) Of course, the unfortunate flip side of that is that Albion are coming right back up next season. - 2 sensational matches showing that Wolves, at times, had the skill to make it in the top flight, the 4-3 fightback against Leicester, and the 1-0 win over Man United. So, the work begins for next season. I'd figure that Dave Jones gets next season, albeit with a "Premiership or else" ultimatum from the board. (It may actually be "Automatic promotion or else", depending), but if Wolves are mid-table or worse after about 15 or 20 games next year, that may be it for Jones. Player speculation should begin soon, but I'd like to see how this bunch plays out the season.

This sucks. It means that us over in the States are going to have to wait a year until we're able to watch Wolves games on tv (with the exception of the Carling/FA Cup).
How can it not be "Premiership or else" next year. We waited 19 years to get back into the top flight only to go back down. I suppose there are several "if onlys" that can be said, but they are too numerous to mention.
thanks to youllneverwalkalone for their kind words. glad we could do you guys a favour on sunday by getting a draw against newcastle - you should have fouth place and a champions league playoff place sown up. on a seperate note, with regard to the wolves v everton game - you just cant keep us wolves fans down. it made me smile to hear the fans towards the end of the game singing "2-1 to the nationwide" (to those who dont know, nationwide are the sponsors of the the first divison). what great supporters.
