Duplicate Thread Kenn, reading comprehension off? or is "Dies" different than "Passing Away"? https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=112362
Sad news. Can't say I really knew much about Bert Wolstein. But if he was doing serious hard work to expand MLS he was a good man in my book.
I myself didn't care for him because of the demise of the original Force and how he handled that. However, putting all insignificant things aside, it is indeed sad and my condolences go out to his family.
Re: Duplicate Thread For some people, the answer apparently is yes. I learned in a recent news clip (on CNN?) about those guys in the arm force who are trained to bring bad news to the family of soldiers who are killed in action. IIRC, they are told never to use the term "passing away" since it may give the family the illusion that the dead soldier may not be absolutely dead.
Re: Duplicate Thread Wow, I don't understand this at all. There are few clearer, or more well known euphimisms for 'die' than 'pass away' Off hand I can think of: 'Pushing up the daisies' 'Taking the dirt nap' 'Singing with the choir eternal' 'Gone to meet his maker' 'Sleeps with the fishes' and many, many more. Maybe when told their loved one has "passed away" some might think it means that he was in the car in the next lane that was going faster than they were? (Or am I missing some obscure interpretation of this?)
I suppose that's better than telling them, "Your son is immitating the famous Norwegian Blue parrott."
Re: Duplicate Thread WTF is your problem today, Andy? Jesus - you posted it first. You win again. Congrats.
Re: Duplicate Thread WTF is your problem? Kenn didn't have a problem with my post, why do you? I didn't point out that I had started the other thread. In fact, I start relatively few threads. I - as well as many other posters - do often point out duplicate threads. Plus, you're about 24 hours late to the party, everybody else has gone home.
Re: Duplicate Thread Whats his problem?? Two things. 1. He is a wizards fan 2. He has 12400 posts to his name, Its smacks of no life so he has to be first on big soccer at least. Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeytach! It so makes me sleep well at nights knowing people liek this are who MLS leaders look to to make big business decisions. Sigh!!!
Re: Duplicate Thread That's a fair cop Nice. Real nice. Post counts are meaninless, especially when they represent 5 years of posting. It only means that 1) I'm connected to the internet and 2) I'm passionate about soccer. To utilize post counts to speculate about whether someone "has a life" or not is either pathetic or ignorant. Possibly both. Fact is, Kenn is a friend of mine, and he's far more capable of "beeeytach" (sic) slapping me a lot harder and subtler than either of you biatches (t after the a) are.
