According to Paul, he is "confident" that Saddam was behind the 1993 WTC attack, and has "entertained the theory" that Saddam masterminded the OKC bombing as well.

    I'm sorry, but Oklahoma City?

Floating around jackball conspiracy sites, not among the freaking Department of Defense.

It's John Freaking Ashcroft's Justice Department, and Wolfowitz thinks they're being negligent or covering something up? WTF?

I'd guess that you're thinking of Richard Perle.

This is the interview where Wolfowitz said that the Administration "settled" on WMD as the reason to attack Iraq for "beauracratic" reasons. But what's really interesting is that in the official DoD transcript of the interview (which I guess that they are required by law to provide), the conspiracy theory stuff is missing. VF swears he talked about it, and they have a transcript of it. But it's not in the "official" govt transcript. Could it be a US government conspiracy to expunge Wolfowitz's Iraqi government conspiracy theories?

If Wolfowitz thought there was an Oklahoma City conspiracy, couldn't he have asked for a stay of McVeigh's execution to question him? It seemed to have been awfully rushed instead.

I think he is just grasping for straws.

That's what I meant, I didn't phrase it very well. A theory flotaing around aboiut John Doe 3/An Iraqi Intellegence Offical.

I didn't respond very well. I knew that's what you meant, and it's extremely weird that a high government official with a reputation for ruthless efficiency would buy into such a theory. It's as if he thought there were alien bodies hidden at Area 51. I mean, presumably one of the benefits of being a high government official is being able to get answers to questions like that.

The idea of Iraqi involvement in OKC bombing is actually a credible theory. There has been movement thru the courts which lends credence to the possibility.

The Bush government not only denies the idea, but killed the one person who would know should. They are obviously in league with Saddam.

Hmmm.. Saddam and his family are still free.. They still have untold amounts of money.. The war was mostly fake.. You know, Ian, you have the start of the mother of all conspiracy theories. This will put those JFK nuts to shame.

Everybody loves conspiracy theories. Why didn't he mention that they blew up the WTC's with explosives? That's one of the most entertaining ones I've read in a while.

Say what you want about any public figure, but saying something like this is a tad over the top in consideration of the real lives and cost of said war.

Well, unless you want to be as "out there" as many of these theories to date. I would say this war had high production value, but fake it was (is) not.

That said, what were you watching anyway? You could have tried, but there wasn't much to watch for over a month on television or print. Thank someone that they tried to make it interesting.

I do not mean fake as in a show being put on, like a forged moon landing in a Hollywood sound stage. There were real people really trying to kill each other.

I mean that the war was over before it started. Before the war began, I was very upset because even with overwhelming military superiority, there was a very real risk that the prize Bush was trying to steal was going to be destroyed in the fighting. But now it is clear that there never was a risk. We got to the generals before the fighting started and made sure that the only people fighting us were the party lackies and few foriegners with only hand held weapons. The only general to actualy fight us was Ali Hassan al Majeed.

I especially like the story about how the artwork on the $10 bill predicted the WTC attacks. Why aren't we bombing those conspirators in Treasury over that, damnit?
