Looks like this will be the starting lineup, if Lahm, Schweini, Neuer are unfit:

    -------------------------------Weidenfeller
    -----Boateng----------Merte----------Hummels---------Durm
    --------------------------Kramer---------Kroos
    -----Mueller-------------------Oezil------------------------Reus
    --------------------------------Schuerrle

If Schweini, Lahm and Neuer cant play this game, what does that mean for Brazil?

Are we going to field a line-up against Portugal with several players, whove been barely a week with the team?

If they fit - they can play, they have played all season and a Lahm, Neuer and Schweinie dont need weeks to be inform again.

Lahm and Schweini will get some playing time. Good news, they need this

Weidenfeller at goal, but I don't see he is a major downgrade anyway

Schuerrle may start up top. He and Mueller are the most instinctive attackers we have in the roster now

If they could achieve that then it would be fine but all those players havent played in training together. Especially the goalie and his backline should be able to do defense duty together in their sleep.

    Deutschland: Weidenfeller/Borussia Dortmund (33 Jahre/2 Länderspiele) - Lahm/Bayern München (30/105), Mertesacker/FC Arsenal (29/97), Boateng/Bayern München (25/38) oder Hummels/Borussia Dortmund (25/29), Durm/Borussia Dortmund (22/1) - Khedira/Real Madrid (27/45), Schweinsteiger/Bayern München (29/101) - Müller/Bayern München (24/48), Özil/FC Arsenal (25/54), Reus/Borussia Dortmund (25/20)) - Klose/Lazio Rom (35/131). - Trainer: Löw

Interesting today would be to see
    1. How does Klose do?
    2. Will Lahm play on the 6 or RB?
    3. Who will pair up as CB (MERTE/HUMMELS/BOA?
    4. How will Loew use his subs - Kroos, Goetze, Schurrle?
    5. Will Grosskreutz get a chance?

It is not about proving anything. More about having a good performance and building confidence. Ozil needs a good performance, no matter how bad the opposition, to boost his confidence prior the WC. A good showing by Khedira is also needed.

Agreed. Not sure why this choice of opponent unless it's for confidence due to a big score.

And assessing who is fit is also paramount.

Before every tournament we usually play against a minnow like this to get confidence up and work on fitness. That's the only reason for this friendly.

Ugly lineup, but this is just a glorified fitness test. Armenia doesn't have much to offer, and even a lineup like that should control the possession and win comfortably, even with a 1-0 scoreline.

Just more attempts to see who is fit and who can play where.

Would have liked to see KGK start though.

This formation also provides a chance to switch to a three man midfield shape. Crossing fingers.

Kahn believes Löw wants security in defense and variability in offense. Thats why he expects Lahm to be playing RB in Brazil. Offensive on the other hand is a free for all and can change depending on the game situation.
