Guys, if you haven't already, check out the division forum at MFLS. Just click on forums, and you'll be able to go into the main forum or our division forum. I'll be posting most of the information in there about the upcoming WizMFLS cup, etc. the cup will start in a few weeks. Also, FC Merlin, how in the world am I supposed to catch you? I've had 88 points the past two weeks and I've gained a total of 1 point on you. crap. Ben, we may have our work cut out for us.
Sadly at least I'm tied for first in the prediction league. I just lose as many points as I earn each week on the fantasy side. Since I can at least pick em somewhate maybe I should just start calling the bookie and give up on my player stats.
The prediction league is a much better indication of true soccer knowledge than the fantasy league... the negative points suck!! "The Onetouchables" James
Very true as I won that last year And won the EPL one that just ended on the EPL forum. I accidentally missed a week two weeks ago so have slipped to 4th.
Not true at all. I mean, you know Colorado's going to stink. You knew DC would stink. You knew Columbus would be good. success in MFLS is decided by picking the role players, watching the games and seeing who's about to get hot (Mathis three weeks ago). Of course, I'm probably just blowing smoke since I'm okay at the fantasy, and never bother to fill out anything on the prediction league.
I agree with Mike. I think that having to pick who's going to win 5 games a week (max) is a lot easier and takes less skill. To stay atop MFLS you've got to keep track of 18 players, and decide what players will perform. Not only do you have to try and predict which teams will win/score the most, but then find the right combo of players on that and other teams to get points. Really the best in MFLS should be the best in prediction since +/- always ends up being a deciding factor. Look at me, I'm pretty much square on goals, assists, etc. but my +/- is nothing compared to the top in our division.......for now.
Nah, predicting a 1-1 draw for Dallas and LA was pure genius!! Mike, Ben: We know you're the kings of MFLS, let us predictor types have our moment in the sun.
charter - it means your slightly above average in both Mt.Mike & Ben - some times, the guy "role playing" fulfills his role with a yellow card, or by fouling the other team. It's not hard to pick who will score goals, and is does take some skill to get 11 decent players within the salary restrictions & you are just blowing smoke... as am I ---- Even though Vegas has been calling me when they start getting action on MLS games I don't think it's too hard to pick winners and losers, but to pick the scoreline is tough, and as balanced as the MLS is, it's getting pretty tough. James
My guidance conselor always told me that someday, if I worked hard and studied diligently, that maybe, through good grace, I might rise to the level of....adequate. My parents are so proud.
Ben, it is contagious after all. Being on top does lead to brash boasting. Merlin, enjoy it for about 72 more hours. (I'd put a smilie here, but apparently two exceeds the limit allowed in one post)
Down goes Cunningham, down goes Cunningham... Oh, the tragedy and horror as Cunningham FC is punted unceremoniously down to 6th having been trampled by Brian Kamler and the Thundering Herd of Buffalo. In addition to leading the WizMFLS division in Goals, plus, and minus (we're working on defense this week); the Herd is up to 5th in the prediction league as well. The Fargodome is rockin'! Go Herd!
Re: Down goes Cunningham, down goes Cunningham... Yeah, it seems my luck has run out after two years of being fairly successful. Oh well, can't win 'em all right?
Re: Re: Down goes Cunningham, down goes Cunningham... Ben, I wouldn't say by any means your luck has run out. It's Very Early. Remember last year, I was like 10th with 5 or 6 weeks left and came back to win. Besides, these novices have to pace themselves. I think they're burning themselves out too early. BTW, what's the thing with the "Thanks Matt" thing from Merlin, whose lead has been cut to a mere 5 points?
Re: Re: Re: Down goes Cunningham, down goes Cunningham... Yeah, I know. Its just been annoying knowing my team has been doing relativetly well and to no avail. Is it me or is the scoring much higher this year in MFLS? The "thanks Matt" was some friendly advice Chad got from Matt right as the season was starting. And now the youngin' is beating us all.
I've been stuck in the cellar of our division for the last 3 years now (though I made a decent run in the Cup last year). I'm just gonna enjoy my time on top... especially since I had a piss poor week last week. CHAD
UGH! Sack the manager... I decided to not buy Beasley. Then I compounded things by starting Chung in place of Kamler, who has scored. This is looking like a poor day.
Well, I forgot Ruiz was out. Then, Colorado of all teams scored (I had Hartman as my goalie). I'm going to come in this week with a solid 8 points.
I didnt know Ching got hurt and I played him to replace Ruiz. So I didnt do well there. Preki and Klein come through again!
