This. Despite what Sounders fans say, they're two seperate entities, the biggest example of that was their last year in the USL when the MLS Sounders "loaned" Nyassi to the USL Sounders.
We catch a break there. Nyassi has both goals for Seattle tonight in the Open Cup final against Columbus. Sounders are up 2-1 midway through second half.
Seattle wins U.S. Open Cup again, first back-to-back champs in 27 years. And in front of a record crowd of 31,000+. Hats off to the Sounders, now 11-1-3 in last 15 domestic matches.
I hope their flight here gets delayed, equipment lost, flat tires, alarms not set, etc. Most of all though, they have to be tired after this one, so looking good for us so far.
Tailgate info for this weekend. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=152723101433671 Come on out and join the Cauldron tailgate this Saturday. There will be food available for a $5 donation as well as keg beer for another $5. Thats right pre-game food and beer for the low low price of $10. This is open to all fans regardless of where you sit or stand you just have to have to say hello. Pandolfi's Deli is providing some fine local sandwiches. Go bye and give them a try and say thanks to the Owner and Season Ticket Holder Jake Hendershot. Beer from Ameristar Brew Kitchen. They make some fine beers.
I would probably say tomorrow. They're still patting themselves on the butt for their USOC win. Hopefully they do that all week and forget to show up Saturday - in a mental sense, that is.
I wouldn't say overconfident. From the sound of some of these posts (hoping for delayed flights, knocked around stars, missing equipment) it would seem that KC fans might be a bit underconfident. Go Sounders.
No, no no - you misunderstand greatly. We are confident that we will beat you in an even contest... we just want you to be at your worst so that we beat you soundly (see what I did there? soundly? ha). I mean, just because we want you, your team and the rest of the Sounders fans to suffer* - does that make us bad people? Oh, wait - this just in... just got confirmation that no, no it does not. * Suffer the agony of defeat... we're not sadistic or anything... well, not all of us.
Couldn't have said it any better, don't know if I'd put the suffering into that certain point. We don't want them to know what's waiting for them.
Even contest? I don't think you'll see an even contest. I doubt the sounders would bench Montero, Nkufo, Zakuani and Nyassi/Fernandez just to give you guys a chance.
It took an hour and 28 minutes for a noob to answer the call. Baited.....hook, line, and sinker. I bet this one even ventures into the rivalries forum and takes everything seriously (and personally).
Wherever did they find the time? Revolutionizing soccer in this country in itself is no small task! Although It will be nice once Portland enters the league next year and we have the Junior sounders fan base to distract them. But even if they do lose, at least they can blame a small field for their woes like everyone else who loses at the CAB.
Pretty much, I love the Open Cup, I love the idea of it, but the bidding process for hosting the games sucks ass and needs to be fixed.
