We're not counting on Beckham coming, that's for sure. The working assumption is that he wouldn't.

    Re: Open Cup Game Announcement

The $20 price is largely to reflect the value of Special Game A...that about splits the difference between a Bleacher Reserved season ticket and a Stadium Reserved season ticket. Yeah, berm season ticket holders such as yourself come out ahead on it, I suppose, but there's only so much we can do.

The sightlines at SMN are excellent. Bit of a pity about the turf and football lines, but the options were extremely limited.

Jerry's is off Santa Fe Trail Dr. in Lenexa, so kinda far out. But it's a cool place. A good friend of mine bartended there for a few years.

There used to be some place East of Metcalf by about a mile, 1/2 block south of Johnson Drive....I thought it was Jerry's, but obviously not.

I've been to both Red Balloon and JJ's. They are both hole in the wall bars that have cheap beer. I would think either would be great.

i go to school in the shawnee mission district so i have attended games at the stadium as well as played soccer on the field. let me be the first to tell you that both suck. the field is a bad version of american football turf and the design of the stadium is horrible (at least on the press box side). i am not to excited about this game. South's stadium would have been infinitely better plus the capacity there is similar to CAB. o well, it's just one game

Gee, I actually like SM North stadium. I can't speak to the turf, but what's wrong with the design?

For what it's worth, South wasn't available.

When the stadium is packed (SMwest football was really good a few years ago so it was always packed) there tends to be a lot of blocking the walk ways because the way you enter the stands. Most people want to be on the lower part i guess but there is hardly anyroom so it gets backed up. When ever i was there it was bad, maybe with crowed control it will be better.

i think there was around 6 thousand for the north v northwest football game this year and it was fine, and i played a ton of games on that field and the turf isnt bad. the football lines are the only thing wrong in my eyes

    Re: Open Cup Game Announcement

MOD NOTE: This thread needed to be cleaned up due to ticket price debate that was going so many of those posts were moved here. The posts that were moved were about pricing in general and not about the Open Cup game announcement which are relevant here - those pertaining to the ticket cost for this game have remained. So it's kind of a mixed cleanup between what was relevant to the Thread and what just became general debate on ticket prices.

    Re: Open Cup Game Announcement

Glad I'll maybe be able to use more than one of my Special Game tickets for a change.... or did I just jinx us?

The logic behind coming to the $20 cash price for this game seems logical to me. As a longtime STH in reserved it seemed to irk me a little that sometimes when those got used for these I either ended up standing at the BVAC without a seat or getting a 2 for 1 value of an $18 - $22 upfront paid ticket to bring a friend. I was still paying minimum $9 per viewing possibility/arrangement for USOC's, while several other were $5 or less for the same GA seat. So I get the logic on it and seems fair on paper for a club attempting to re-value their product.

I'm curious as to how one would estimate how many cash tickets would be available? I would think FULL STH's with the special game A option would have to be around a 4k number. I'd say about 70% might utilize the game option. What happens if you oversell say if Beckham did somehow make it? Klein will draw some additional local people from the area out as would maybe Ruiz.

I bet Colorado wins...that sure wouldn't help attendance much, would it? :D

Found this over on the St. Louis boards, not sure how true it is, the poster has not provided a source.

Sam, or any other front office person, any truth to this?

We'll know by the end of the night who we will be playing. I would think attendance would be good based mainly on the fact that we haven't had a home game in 7 1/2 weeks, but will also likely be boosted even more if it is against LA (though Beckham probably won't play).

Sounded to me like total domination by the Gals in the first half. They hit the post twice and seemed to be creating all the chances. 0-0 Half.
