Not a cheap shot. I just view hop's post in the same light as scraper's.
I was actually thinking it was scraper in disguise.

But serious the idea that Philly is a "sure thing" for 2010 has no merit.
Why 2010??? Has anyone remotely related to the subject ever mentioned this?

We here nothing from Cleveland now, and the MLS really wants Philadelphia, which is a good fit. I can't see how they won't get a team. If St Louis gets team 14 from rumors, who gets 15 and 16?

I think Philadelphia is at the top of that list maybe 2009....

Who gets team 16? San Jose if they get their stadium?

Actually Cleveland does have some traction for their MLS team and stadium bid.

Here are some interesting articles if you want to know more about the competition.

Congrats to the Dynamo! Fun match to watch. Gutwrenching penalty kicks!
Now let's get back to the Wizards...
Am I right in assuming they cannot use Arrowhead at all next season. Renovations are being made right?
Where are they planning to play? College field?
I think Franklin Field can be up and running for MLS by April eh?

Wizards have plans to renovate a HS football stadium for use until their SSS is complete.

Arrowhead renovations will not be compatible with the MLS season.

Its almost 100% guaranteed to happen for 2007 and 2008, at least.
Wizards plan on doing a "Naperville". Just like the Fire did when they were waiting for Soldiers Field to be renovated. So maybe not as bad as Dragon Stadium in Dallas. I've never been there, so I don't know.

Most mentioned HS stadiums were ODAC and BVDAC.

However, since the Wizards may not build their SSS in Overland Park any more, the list of schools that the Wizards might use might have just got a lot larger.

I normally ignore these boards (for good reason) buuuuuut

the latest news from the people that voted down the Youth Fields not the Wizards stadium have indicated that if a stadium is not built...

They will build a stadium on the moon, yes its out of the way and poor roads but the land is cheap and will create the greatest home field advantage in the league:rolleyes:

or am I just making stuff up based on one sentence from an article with no merit and substance except my own stupidity because i want it to be true

back to the real world, it may be less funny but it also doesn’t kill my respect for the intelligence of other humans

Klinsman: "I want to eventually get back into coaching."
Translation: Since the Wizards have a coaching vacancy, this MUST mean Klinsman is going to be hired as the Wizards manager.

You're an idiot. I'd be nicer about it, but I just can't find the words. Neg rep (and I don't do that very often either).

No calling him an idiot is not enough Ben.

Hipity Hop said it best. It isn't going to happen until atleast 2010. But if one of you guys who is playing soccer in the alley's wins the powerball then maybe you can start doing something about it sooner. Sorry guys/and gals but this dream of you getting the Wiz is over. The bubble has been popped, and your dreams of getting a MLS team is over until atleast 2010.

While I tend to agree the evidence for a Wizards to Philly news is less than weak, we appreciate if the KC fans (mods even) can refrain from insulting our posters by immature name calling.

If you don't like what you read, tell us why without 4 year old antics, or we will simply delete your posts.

    Only warning.

As a follow up to SP, this is the same level of moderation KC fans asked for as people have been dancing, prematurely, on their grave.

I agree, the trolling name-calling is lame. Obviously KC fans are emotive about such a topic (regardless of its likelihood or lack thereof) but please do not come on here to post unless you bring a good, respectful point to the discussion from your point of view.

I said it once and here it goes again:
Why are KC people so defensive? Is it because deep inside you know that relocation might be real. Is like Seattle people thinking that there is no chance that the sonics might end up in OKC.
MLS is a buisness and buisness goes where there is money. Stadiums = money
    Attendance = Money
    eg.
    Houston Oilers
    Charlotte Hornets
    Montreal Expos
    Vancouver Grizzlies
    San Jose Quakes

What make people in KC think that because the ownership group is from KC, They are going to go on a buisness venture to loss money when there is no support from the non- soccer people aka casual fans.

Well there is support from the KC fans.

A lot more than say, Colorado, where they struggle to have 5,000 for a Playoff game.

Yet, they have a big money owner and a new stadium (with a really lame name). They aren't going any where.

I still do not understand how that was possible. I think there is a chance
Dick's Park might end up being the nicest high school football stadium in Colorado.
Everybody knows the NorthEast is Professional Sport haven. I know that I/O groups in Philly could be cautious because the Metrostars do not pull big numbers. Hopefully someone be brave enough (like BonJovi) and spend some moola on a team.

Short term. I don't think Kroenke will continue to nurse a dead baby. Especially with the lure of a new stadium, they hopefully will get an attendance bump. They were plagued by mid-week games this year.

But their new stadium will be the smallest Dick('s Park) in the league.

I hope KC does move. Its a waste to a have a team in a market that is small and nobody goes to the games. Give another market a shot they couldn't do any worse.

Going off topic now, but why wouldn't Kroenke keep it on welfare?
Whats he going to do with the Dick's stadium if the Rapids fold?
Even the MLL is not playing there.

Like santo said - Denver Area School District Field.

The Rapids like the Red Bulls and Revs have marketing teams that have abandoned them - when the marketing dollars reappear I wonder if the fans will.

Denver seems to have the most to lose and a craptacular home attendance number is not helping that. But as I said they were unfairly burdened with Wednesday nighters this year. Their playoff numbers were as bad as KC on $5 night in the 04 Western Final.

I know AndyMead and the gang don't agree with me that attendance is important, and while it doesn't stop the bleeding, a professional sport needs fans. Increased attendance begets increased coverage begets increased revenue begets increased attendance, etc. Fans have to want to come. If tickets are easy to come by and aren't pre-bought, casual fans will likely find something more important to do come game time.
