Press Release initial paragraph: The Kansas City Wizards announced Wednesday that the club has agreed to terms with Argentine midfielder Santiago Hirsig on a Major League Soccer (MLS) contract. Most recently of San Lorenzo, Hirsig is an eight-year veteran of the Argentine first division. Per club and League policy, financial terms were not disclosed. Hirsig and the Wizards will finalize the agreement following the receipt of his International Transfer Card and P-1 Visa.
well if kc didn't spend to much money then it should be a good pick up. he's not flashy and won't score many goals but he's steady and has over 200 games in the argentine league. i believe the wizards lost zavagnin(sp.?) to retirement so he should provide good experience in that position.
Based on what? I guess at least Peter Vermes and his team are doing a better job than DC United in scouting South American talents.
I've only seen him on the Futbol de Primera highlights show. I could've sworn the guy was a d-mid or at most a linking mid, not any sort of A-mid. On the other hand, if he's even as good for KC as Ricchetti has been in Dallas, it's a great addition.
Um, let's see, finalizing their stadium plans, negotiating with Lopez to a much lower deal, trading for Cristman, and now signing a creative midfield playmaker. Just because you may not be a fan of them doesn't mean you can't respect the moves they've been making.
I actually thought Colombano was a decent to good player that never really got his shot. But, I do agree that I hope his stay in KC goes a lot smoother than that. I am hoping that PV has learned from his previous transactions and has taken the time to sign another dud.
Santiago Hirsig is a tough DEFENISVE midfielder who can head balls on corners and score from time to time. He is a solid player and apart of San Lorenzos 2007 championship. He was a starter last season but early this year seems to have had a falling out with coach Miguel Angel Russo. A Good SOLID signing... Don´t expect him to SAVE the wizards but expect him to be a solid performer... he is excited about coming to MLS so that is a start.
No, I didn't mean that. Instead I praise the current Wizards management on doing more things right than the previous management. Well, I haven't heard somebody complaining of no welcoming gift basket. I just want some facts on your judgment.
He could play centrelback and holding-midfielder, he's better as a holding-midfielder. He could score set pieces and very strong tackler.
Yes, and too bad he's an attacking midfielder who couldn't score even if he was Wilt Chamberlain surrounded by groupies.
