ESPN Soccernet has their season preview up for us, very well written by Kristian Dyer. Can't say I disagree with too much, if any, of it...

 Really? I mean, really? The only loss will be that warm spot on the bench....

I bantered about this internally and I figured that almost 50 appearances, half of them starts over three years, made him at least somewhat of a prominent figure on the team.

Throw me in the cauldron on this if I was wrong...har har har...

Prominent, yes. Key, no. Unless we're tracking on-field profanity metrics. ;)

    Fair enough..

As often happens when previews aren't written by people familiar with the team (happens in all sports) the intangibles can sometimes be missed. He may have featured prominently under Onalfo, but he was less than prominent following Onalfo's firing. Someone else (Mike) can probably provide actual evidentiary support for this, but I wouldn't be surprised if all 50 of those appearances came before Onalfo's firing.

And that's because he was rarely effective even before Onalfo was fired. Morsink is one of those guys that the coach brings in that he sees something in that no one else does, so once Onalfo was dismissed, Morsink became irrelevant. From where I sit he was a turnover machine; his loss is a net positive.

3 appearances, 2 starts under Vermes. Including PV's very first game as head coach.

I happened to have the 2009 section of my media guide files open.

He was cover for our midfield and started either because of injury or poor performances from others causing the coach to change things up. Had one good game that I remember last year - and that was about it. I wouldn't consider him a key player either, but got more minutes than the most of the rest of the second tier.

Erm, we were 3 goals away from winning the treble in 2004, with two key players out due to injury for a big chunk of the season.

The 2004 team, before the Preki and Klein injuries, was better than the 2000 team. Even after that, they almost got it done.

I'm already convinced we're lifting the cup at the end of the season. Years ending in 0 are simply going to be our year.

Great. That jinx's that. wvhooligan has shown that he knows very little, if anything, about our team.

    my boy huh?

only if he scores in double digits

or if he is found to be taller than watson, has more stamina than Souter, more quality than Smith, and funny than Conrad, or curses more than Neilson.

Its Robb :) I'm not knocking the guy, he is a nice fella but I think he probably just threw out a number that was close to the mark. Kamara might be included ... can't think who else could possibly be and there was no sign of anybody else new out there tonight.
