As posted in the post game thread, soundersfc.com has a post match report which includes video of Arnaud's goal. It is from an unusual angle. But it is there and I am not sure why MLS couldn't use it for their GOTW feature.

I figured that they would only show it in HD on Direct Kick if one of the markets was showing the game in HD. As we all know, it is not shown here in HD (on Metrosports), so I wondered if it was shown in HD in Seattle.

Since you say the Direct Kick feed was not in HD, then I wonder what the deal is.

I guess they'd committed to the Seattle broadcast? Maybe they have to set that up ahead of time, so the broadcast I got here (which was in SD) wasn't the one they'd agreed to show (which was in HD).

You guys watched it at Coach's, right? Was it SD or HD?

    Yes and yes

started off on the MS show - SD.
went to the HD feed (there was no sound); here for the first half.
Back to the(a..??) DK(or MS on some tv's) feed - SD.

It happened. Maybe there is an argument to be made for GOTW canidates to only be chosen among goals that didn't go in off of both keeper's hands. Good strike, though. It's nice that KC has one shooter, much less one from distance.

In other things that happened recently:

Bowling: Nebraska beat local University Central Missouri St. 4-1 in the Final of the NCAA double-elimination bracket to take the 2009 Title. It's Nebraska's third overall and first since taking both of the first two on offer. In a cruel coincidence, Nebraska has beated CMSU in the Final for all 3 of their National Titles.

As there are limited NCAA teams, Divisions I, II, and III all compete in the same level. Also interesting is the strange format called the Baker System. Teams of 12 women compete in one-line one game contests where 5 members and possibly subs contest individual frames. Bowler #1 rolls the first and sixth, #2 rolls the second and seventh, and so on until the anchor #5 rolls both the fifth and tenth. A team score is produced in the same manor. Unlike league or pro play, only one frame at a time is rolled and both teams stay on one lane. Teams switch both order and lanes every game. A best-of-7 forms the match.

This could be done among friends or even supporter's groups certainly. Anyway, congrats to NU.

Royals: Can't hit, really can't hit with runners in scoring position, pitching is good to great except for the #4 and #5 starters, defense is questionable, the new kid in right hustles but makes young-guy mistakes of that same effort although he had a webgem get last night. Cleveland in tonight. They have to take 2 of 3 to finish .500 on the home stand.

The upside is 3-3 without Jose, good defending in 4 of 6 games, and questions in the late starters slot. KC could easily be 1-5.

A1: This is the racing series that pits competitors of one single country against other countries. I can't find it on TV, but on highlights the cars look better than the F1 autrocities. I do like the look of cars painted in the country's flag colors. F1 up again this weekend in China.

Aussie: Port Adelade Power struck for 147 this round, that sets a new high in '09. Swans suck, that is all.

Chiefs: Signed yet another aging linebacker. Good player with a good history. The problem is the history is becoming, well, very historic. You get enough old guys in the middle in a league that values late offense and all you really do is create ground upon which late failure will be the only fruit.

Basketball: Missouri had a good week.

The University of Missouri in Columbia won the National Intramural Final 4 in Detroit over Georgia. It was televised this weekend. having played a few thousand runs to 16 in those gyms both in pick-up and intramurals, I'm pretty happy for the guys. I rarely played the highest courts (and normally suffered when I did, especially as an undergrad), but it's a nice feather. The Missouri boys and girls KC All-Stars both stomped thier Kansas side competition as well. That's 7 straight for the Missouri guys. That MU went deeper than KU in the NCAA's only adds to the overall package.

    Cheers.

I watched on Direct Kick (via DirecTV) and it was most certainly in HD... but there was no sound until the ~52nd minute of the game.

Strangely, my onscreen guide originally had it listed in both SD and HD... but partway through the game, the listing on the SD channel changed from "wizards at sounders" to whatever it says when there's no game on.

There is a link now to Davy's goal and match highlights on the Wizards website. The link doesn't work for me, but that may be a site blocker thing. If they work for you, enjoy!

If you are talking about Willie Bloomquist, he's 31. And he's awful. I groaned when I heard we signed him.

I didn't see his webgem, but that might be all we get from him this season.

MetroSports has the equipment necessarily to downconvert an HD feed into an SD broadcast. MLS TV does not.

Well highlights are up now, but looks like they were up too late for the goal of the week voting.

He was absolutely terrible on saturday night. I'd venture to say that he was the worst outfielder I've seen make it past high school.

Well, I think he's supposed to be a utility infielder (sans 3rd base), with Teahen being a utility outfielder/infielder. Obviously, Teahen can player just about anywhere.

With Gordon and Guillien being injured at the same time, they've had to shuffle some guys around. Making Teahen play third, and pushing Bloomquist to right.

Bloomquist has played outfield before, but I don't think he's comfortable out there.

Lost a friend to cancer today.

All I can say is that when you see a cancer fundraiser somewhere, and if you have the means to donate a few dollars, do it. It effects all of us at some point, and we need to find a way to defeat this ********ing disease. A few dollars here and there just might make a difference.

Setanta is carrying it. Nothing will make me pay extra for an individual channel when I already pay a mint for the top tier (especially when they don't permit DVRing the channel), so I guess I won't be watching A1GP. Or any Everton games for that matter... Bastards.
