I was just thinking the other day that with the new training facility coming online that it would be the ground work for a youth system. A place to learn the game at the highest levels with pros of all levels of experience. This could be better than Brandenton.
music to my ears. It is basically free, and they are not piggybacking on an existing structure and just slapping a new name on it.
sounds great. i love the part about how the kids will have to participate in fundraising, and that fundraising is selling tix to senior matches. looks like another feather in ongoal's hat.
I love it!!! There are entirely too many FIRE fans in IOWA. Not only does this sound like an exciting program, it should help soccer in all five states, and eventually help the Wizards.
This is awesome. I remember there being rumors about this when the partnership with Atlas was announced but I didn't think it would be this fast. I wonder who will coach the youth teams.
Perhaps this will make a difference to the bastards that keep saying KC should be moved. It'll also go a long way to erase the stigma associated with the Wizards from the failed youth soccer fields initiative that the Wizards were just trying to get tax payers to pay for their stadium or something. Now they'll see the Wizards organization making a huge step towards reaching out to the community and making a difference. All I can say is that this is a brilliant move. Personally I can't wait until we start getting some of these youth graduates making it to the first team in a few years. When that happens (and it will), I'll be as proud as a person can be about an organization.
I like the way Luder starts his article. Hopefully we have some future starters in our middle schools right now. http://www.kansascity.com/171/story/109025.html Really interested in who the coaches for each team will be.
