No suprises here. It'll be years before someone overtakes Preki. I've been posting this stuff on the other team boards, and now it's your turn. Enjoy. Good thing we qualified for the CONCACAF Champions' Cup, because it's time for Chris Brown to get his name OFF the top of that Continental goal scoring leaders. Man, I hated him.
ditto. maybe igor's paperwork'll come thru this time around. or maybe we can just "forget" to get visas for whoever we play.
Q is Matt McKeon: Greatest one-time free-kick taker in MLS history. That bomb against LA was amazing. After that...well he hit a lot over the bar. Brown is Chris Brown: He was bad. Very very anemic when it came to putting away chances. But according to Gansler, he played because of his form in practice. Apparantly he is the greatest practice player in the history of soccer, because he sucked on the field.
Right right. Q is just his nickname because his last name isn't pronounced Mc-"Kee-uhn" like the Florida Marlins manager, but Mc-"Q-uhn". So Q.
Just proves even farther how special Miklos was to this team in 2000. What we would do to get Josh to score 17 in one season and especially when they really counted (5 in the playoffs). Remember this was an entire season of 1-0 victories and I think 9 ties with Preki taking all PK's and all set shot's (left siders by Q). Think of what Miklos (2000) would've done this year with our team fully healthy in the midfield. Why did you leave us Midnight Oil? Only thing about this though, is that we only had one PK that entire season if I remember correctly, it was in that now famous game in Wizards history, and if I remember correctly, it was even taken by Molnar as well.
You are correct. Preki had a PK saved by Zach Thornton (I think) in late July, 1999. Our next attempt came in around the 20th minute of game 3 vs LA in the 2000 Western Conference Playoffs on October 6, 2000. Chris Henderson - near the touchline and the edge of the 18 went down under slight provocation from Danny Califf. I had been keeping a running tally of how long it had been since the Wizards last PK attempt in minutes. At some point Rob Johnson - then the PR guy for the Wizards - started putting it in the media game notes. Henderson made a comment after the game that he "might" have gone down a bit easy since he heard we were due for a PK. I forget the final count, but it was some 4700 minutes or so. Yes, Molnar did take our one and only competitive PK in 2000.
Yeah it's on the half time of the actual game, which Bishop sent me on DVD, the announcers say how long it had been since our last one. That's a LONG time.
Nice thread. Good work. The adjunct thread would be assists. The reason it hasn't been done should be pretty obvious. #1 in every category ---> Preki. The distant #2s, etc. ---> everyone else. God Bless #11.
