I would rather have Selena myself. At least she is performing in some manner and not just famous for being a dumb (insert your own term here). I did not see where that info came from. Did the Wizards state that somewhere. I would not be at all surprised if this happens.
Here's an idea...don't bring anything or anybody unless it has something to do with SOCCER!!!! All the other crap is just that...CRAP! also then i dont have to stand in line w/my daughter to see Selena again and I can get my spot in the Cauldron!!!
I was thinking Selena Quintanilla-Pérez died 15 years ago; why would you want her? Then I found Selena Gomez, some 17 year old pop star. I'm glad I don't have pre-teen girls around the house anymore!
Well at least they are being ambitious ... Not inviting people to any games with the cheesy shit going on. We already have to put up with the Starting 11 girls, that moronic mascot, and guff like bag pipers, the mariachi band, and the dog days, but Selena? How about they starting pitching stuff toward 16-30 year old adults. Yunno - people that go to see sporting events live. The people that spend the money. Not six year olds .... at some point the Wizards need to start attempted to be relevant.
But I think that's what they're doing with this Jersey Shore stuff, it appeals to the lower end of those demographics.
Going back to this, and the friendly against the Lions on May 5th. Wonder if that game will still be on, as KC's in DC that night for a league game.
From ACSTL's twitter: If AC St. Louis and KC Wizards were going to play in a home and home preseason series? what would you call it? Have a feeling this is heading towards the series actually happening.
.... which will lead to much chest beating about a rivalry and totally ignore the pre-season aspect of things, like how pointless the result really is when there are 11 substitutions and everybody is trying not to get hurt.
I think the fans are going to make more of this rivalry than the players at this point, since the teams are at different league levels. The players and coaches are probably just going to be happy to have two more preseason games to get ready for the season and a short distance to travel for said games.
Suddenly excited about a pre-season friendly and an 8-9 hour round trip drive to see a 'minor league' team try to extract some bragging rights from the almighty Wizards ........ sickness sickness ...... same sickness that had me stand in the rain with Mike and Kevin and Thad and some other wackos watching the Wizards nth string play the USMNT U-17s .... (My wife is in Columbia that weekend at some kind of sorority reunion.)
With any luck, we're going to be in a coach. Thinking 4.5 hours there, plus game two hours, plus another hour eating/ dicking around, we're probably looking at 12 hrs or more all inclusive. Hell I was there last year, but I was suffering from heat dementia. How long was it? Northbank, Spoon, Sam, szazzy, I know damn well you were there. Budget 12-13 hours for it?
Yeah something like that -- one of the longest days in my sporting life, I was ass kicked beat, stinking, dried out and tired on the way home. We started off leaving at around 9am and didn't get back to till around 11pm .... We had a few stops in there, one on the way down, a good hour and a half watching the USMNT team game in that cool burger joint and then a junk food binge post game .... plus one final coffee break for Don. Loud happy bus on the way to STL, quiet quiet bus on the way back ....
