Luca Caldirola won't be in the squad today as transfer negotiations are currently going on with several clubs. Parma appears to be current front runners.
http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/eljero-elia/bremen-online-artikel-40102400.bild.html According to Bild, the deadline for Southampton's purchase option on Eljero Elia is the beginning of May. With the price set around 5.5 mio. Eichin has been in contact with a consultant who has said that Southampton is quite satisfied with Elia's contributions since arriving at the club.
More transfer rumors from Bild. Prödl supposedly nearing a summer move to Besiktas, where he's close to signing a 3-year contract with. He's grown a lot here through the years and has risen in recent seasons so it's sad to see someone like that leave. But we've brought in Vestergaard who's a promising young replacement who can fill those shoes. When Galvez returns from injury those two can form a solid central defensive core for the future as they've shown earlier this second half. Werder has also been scouting Danny Latza, a defensive midfielder from Bochum in the second division.
The internet says Selke -> Leipzig... Is this some coordinated media april fools, or is this just fanta-sea? caught in a landslide...no escape from reality (but seriously, WTF?)
I thought the Selke news was an April Fools joke but it is being confirmed by Werder AFTER RB Leipzig announced the news. Seems unlikely that both clubs would be in on it...I honestly have a hard time believing this after signing a long-term deal in September and solidifying himself as a starter in our lineup. If its true, then its very disappointing and just another indicator as to the state of our club. We can't attract established talent and don't have the money to pay for it anyway, and young up and coming talents don't want to stay with Werder after demonstrating their value...
Leaving Werder is one thing.....but to Leipzig? Can they really pay him that much more? And on the pitch....does Leipzig's future really look that much brighter than Werder's? Granted, they're very ambitious, but I'd think it would be at least 2 years until they're at Werder's level.....sad if true.
Leipzig, whether we like it or not, will grow and grow and grow. At the end of the day financial (unfair) investment is roughly proportional to results. They'll be in the 1. Buli within the next couple of years, and I'm willing to bet will win it within the next decade, and once they're up there they'll likely stay (ala ManShitty). Their financial pool is ...well, red bulls bank account so f**king huge. I reckon he is getting paid (salary) quite a bit, along with the promise of the aforementioned growth of the side ..I guess it is a justifiable move. ...I still think he's selfish dick though. Scheiß RB. Loving the werder fans venting; https://www.facebook.com/DavieSelke.Official?fref=ts
I'm actually pretty glad that they won't be promoted this year....as I originally thought they would. PS I'm also loving the in-denial Werder fans on that FB page who still think it's an April Fools joke
It's the only reason @Epitome990 hasn't posted here yet Next game, at home against Mainz ...that'll be interesting.
I know Eichin's comments indicate that there isn't any bad blood between the front office and Selke as we are being paid a handsome transfer fee for his rights, however, I don't think the fans will respond with the same attitude. I think the Weser faithful will react negatively since he signed a long-term deal 7 months ago and pledged loyalty to Werder for the foreseeable future. In addition to the attitude most of Germany has towards RB Leipzig already. Would not be surprised to hear alot of whistling at him if he plays. Personally, i'm not sure if i'd rather he be benched or have him finish out the year as a starter.
Woke up this morning and felt sick when I read this news all over the internet. And to think I bought the jersey of this guy when I visited Bremen during the holidays. But then I went to work and ended up having a rather good day anyway. This move pretty much summarizes the state of the modern football. Where brats like Raheem Sterling think they're too good for £180,000 a week contracts to remain at Liverpool. I saw a lot in Selke, believed that with another two or three years of our guidance he'll be ready for the National Team and the big stage of Europe. But Davie chose to chase the Euros early and join a club like Red Bull. To leave and go play in a hallow stadium and be a walking energy drink advertiser in Leipzig. Brought him in from Hoffenheim's academy, gave him the football education to become the player he is now but then is gone. Makes you realize that he was a mercenary all along. Werder's strategy for the future is to continue being a talent factory. Find stability with proper financial management and steady transfer flow until we can reach that next level again. The key is to always be resourceful. Scout thoroughly to find the best prospects ahead of others, and keep critical and committed building blocks like Junuzovic with us along the way. We are the club that produced and provided the break out opportunity for many stars through the years. We have tons more talent in the ranks, and will rise again.
I have no problem with Selkes move. He is a great talent, but if he is not with his heart at Werder he should take the chance for a new challenge, even if it is Red Bullshit. Rumors say the RB offer is 8-10 million € and the Werder management can accept this offer.
I don't see it so negative. Within the last years many important players left us as free transfers. This season it seems it gets avoided (exception: Prödl, probably), while important players like Junuzovic extended their contract as well. Davie Selke also extended his contract last autumn. So Werder gets around 8 million € transfer fee + 2 million € possible bonus. Davie has a salary increase from close to 1 million € to more than 2 million € annual salary and receives a signing bonus of around 1 million €. So from this point it looks like a good deal for all parties: Red Bullshit has a very promising talent, Werder gets money to consolidate and invest into new signings this summer, Davie Selke earns more money, ... Ok, exception: Heart-broken Werder fans, who took Davies quotes at the contract extension for real: "Extending was an affair of heart, I am deptfull to Werder, ...". But hey, he broke the same kind of China when he left for 50k from Hoffenheim to Werder. I was already surprised about last autumns contract extension, so now I am not sad.
A potential replacement that has been mentioned is Heerenveen's Mark Uth. That happens to be one of my other favorite clubs and I watch them and the Eredivisie quite often. Uth is a fun player to watch and likeable character overall. He's developed into a nice technical striker that gets involved in build up plays and has an active presence throughout the pitch. His 14 goals and 11 assists leads the league in terms of combined production with 25 total points. However, I have observed there still are certain issues with his game. Strength is one of them as he faces difficulty when duelling against more physical defenses. At Heerenveen, Uth tends to rely on his movement to navigate through opponents instead. He needs to hit the gym and bulk up more if he's to compete in the BL where he won't have as much space given with tougher defenses here. Uth's ceiling won't be as high as Selke's but I do rate him better than Petersen. In terms of his current contract, it does end this summer but Heerenveen has a club option for an additional year. He's a very important member of the team as the production indicates. Fans and management want him to stay and have been working on an extension since the winter break. I doubt Heerenveen will let him leave for free as they did develop his game extensively in recent years and as a smaller club would want to recuperate some transfer revenue towards future projects. What will likely happen if we pursue him is they would activate the one year club option, and we pay a smaller transfer fee considering the situation.
Dortmund have made a recent inquiry for Di Santo, in which Eichin has responded that we will only consider receiving transfer fees in the double digit millions. Meanwhile, we've been busy scouting out another possible striker replacement and have sent staff to observe Robert Beric of Rapid Wien.
http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/werder-bremen/everton-will-vestergaard-40558726.bild.html Bild saying that Everton are willing to pay 8-10 mio for Vestergaard. Sounds like Sokratis 2.0 along the horizon, buy low and profit high in a short amount of time. Also read elsewhere that we'll be looking to sell Caldirola, Hajrovic, and Makiadi this summer.
http://liga-zwei.de/1-fc-nuernberg-...ssiert-siebtes-siegloses-spiel-in-folge/41278 http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/hsv/werder-jagt-hsv-torjaeger-40593524.bild.html Werder scouts busy planning for the new season. These reports indicate that we have our sights on signing Niklas Stark and Melvin Krol. Eichin and sporting director Rouven Schröder were seen yesterday attending FCN's match versus St. Pauli with Stark being the main subject of focus. Meanwhile, Krol's youth contract with HSV expires this summer. Chelsea and Juventus have shown interest, but the lad prefers to stay in Germany to continue his development. There's many indications that he will make the move to Werder. This will be quite the coup if we make this happen, together with Johannes Eggestein Werder will have the two top talents of the 1998 class in the country.
Nils Petersen having a career revival at Freiburg right now. He's scored 6 goals in 8 games, and likely would of had more if he didn't miss a month with knee injury. Where was this production earlier? An in form Petersen could be useful next season, especially with Selke's departure. But not sure if he fits back again into our game plan. Consistency has always been an issue for him, whether this type of production continues is unknown. SCF does have a buying option for 1.5 mio. I'd imagine they would likely activate it considering how he's been able to contribute and help them stay clear of the relegation zone. The change of scenery has certainly helped him regain his touch, so this move may be beneficial for both parties.
http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/fc-nuernberg/brint-stark-nuernberg-millionen-40740670.bild.html FC Nürnberg's Niklas Stark is another promising young player we are tracking. Captain for Germany in last year's U19 Euro champions and a Fritz Walter gold medal winner for top U19 player in 2014 awarded by the DFB. He will participate internationally again this summer at the U20 WC. Nice option to help solidify the central midfield, and versatility to cover as a defender. Stark has great potential and also a player who we can continue to build on and develop further. http://www.telegraaf.nl/telesport/voetbal/scheerenveen/23981513/__Uth___Werder_mooie_club___.html Mark Uth confirms that Werder has legit interest in him. His goal remains to return to the Bundesliga after a strong breakthrough season in the Eredivisie.
We should sign him as fast as possible... -------- Werder - Frankfurt: Open match between both teams. Both defenses look shaky, lets hope that we can use this 2nd half.
Transfermarkt saying that Luca Caldirola is drawing interest from a wide range of clubs from Germany (Köln, Frankfurt, Gladbach), Italy (Lazio, Genoa, Torino), and Russia (Spartak Moscow). It hasn't been an ideal season for him, losing out his spot in the starting XI due to injuries and increased competition. But he's still young and could rebuild on his promising previous year at a fresh change of scenery and return to health. It is reported that he could go for around 4.5 mio. According to a Sky.de commentator, we are looking at FC Heidenheim's Florian Niederlechner as another possible striker option. The 24 year old has 11 goals and 8 assists this season in 2.BL. Not a major target but could work out as addition depth. Fin Bartels also successfully made the leap to the first division with us.
On transfermarkt.de Ujah was discussed, but users rated an interest in Mark Uth higher (so indeed surprising). I am ok with this move, Ujah prove himself in the Bundesliga and played this season the best season of his career. I would compare with Sanogo (good athletics, mediocre technic), who I did not see as bad as some others.
