WE6 has been totally engrossing my life since it came out. It is the best representation of soccer I've ever enjoyed on a console system. but, like everything else in life, it ain't perfect. Here are some changes I'd like to see. Please add as you see fit: Gameplay: 1) Ability to make runs. 2) Less "cheating" by the CPU at 4 & 5 star levels. 3) Special skills/moves for certain qualified players (i.e., beating a defender 1 v 1 off dribble with Ronaldo) 4) Tighter marking by defenders based on ability. Opions: 1) Setting stock formations/tactics for CPU controlled teams in league/cup play. 2) Master league more like a CM4 total management package with stadium attendance, TV revenue, Euro qualifications, etc. 3) How many games a player will be out when injured.
stinky ref is the first thing they must fix for the gameplay or at least they should give us a chance to choose the strictness and irrationalness. run option would be fun but maybe it's hard to work on the balance with offside trap. as for option i totally agree that it enables us to modify cpu's formation and squad. some says it's unrealistic, but playing with same opponent with same squad always seems more unrealistic to me. as for injury, the past konami game showed how many days it would take to recover but they removed in we6 for soem reason. probably in reality you'll never know how long it should take. i hope one day they could allow us to play the real league besides the master league
MLS license. Ok, then how about a reasonable facsimile of the US league, that includes the season, the open cup, and the post season. But I'd prefer the MLS license. Konami had it for Extra Time. It can not be prohibitively expensive. How hard is it to meld that license and league format with the Winning Eleven engine and features?
I'd like to see: 1- Instruction An 11-on-11 option in the Practice Mode. Preferably one where you can choose the opponent, but anything would be great. I may have missed this, so if there's one and I'm not seeing it, let me know. 2- A more complete tutorial, one that includes a particularly in-depth section on shooting technique in live and dead ball situations. That's not info for a cheat website- it's the sort of thing every kids coach tells his players. Gamers looking for a sim should expect no less. 3. Gameplay A keeper who can drop the ball and distribute with his feet. I'd also like to decide when he does so. Even with the "feed kick" option, they're too slow sometimes. Make run options have already been listed on this thread, so I won't bother. I'd like to see player condition deal more with the actual contact the player receives during the matches. A defender would dish out more punishment than he took, for example, and a forward would do the opposite. This may already be happening, I don't know. 4. Presentation. These are minor issues with me, but they do exist. I'd like to hear better commentary (the halftime and post-match reports are the worst), with announcers who can pronounce all the players' names. I'd like the option of changing the commentators' bias for certain matches. This may already be in the game. I'd like to see the edit flag idea carry over to the logo on the uniform. Let the flag logo become the shirt crest (or the other way around) I'd also like to see Konami adopt WTS's layer idea for the uniforms. Get some real music. The celebrations should be tailored to the importance and score of the given match. When your team is beating the CPU 5-0 in their stadium and they score, you shouldn't hear the same roar or see the same kind of celebration as when they equalize in stoppage time in their staduim to send the match into golden goal. Show some (selectable option) dead ball player interaction, like players congratulating the GK after he turns away a PK for a corner, starters going off and subs coming on, closeups of the player after a badly missed or just missed shot, etc. Basically, the cut scenes that you'd see in any TV match. I'd like to see two MLS teams included in this game. Fiorentina's done. Get rid of Bordeaux or somebody to make room. I'd also like to see South American, North American, Asian and African Elite teams. Rate 'em how you wanna, but put 'em in the game. Allow instant replay anytime during the match. Widen the camera angle just a bit. The radar is not as effective as being able to see more of the pitch. I'd like an "overcast" weather option that does not include rain.
Competitions I would like to see World Cup Qualifiers for every region and have at least four Leagues with Promotion and Relegation their respective Cup games along with Champions League and UEFA Cup. i dont care if all the Clubs have fake names. They can also have random squads like Rest of the World and a Create your own league option. Transfer System If they had a transfer system similiar to Champ Mans it would be cool, It doesnt have to be as detailed but it is too easy to get any player you want. I guess this would also mean a diffrent type of points sytem. Also it would be cool if the players would also get old and retire and then Regenerate like in CM..
I agree with this. The game should try to resemble CM more in the transfer aspect. And players should age and eventually retire, young players could then take their place in the free agent pool each offseason and teams would bid on the different young players.
I can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet......how about icon passing? I can't tell you how many times during each match my pass doesn't go to whom it was intended. If icon passing was in place, you could pass to any of the 6 or so players closest to you with a touch of their corresponding icon. This is a must in soccer games. Also, an MLS liscence would be great, but i have someone putting the complete MLS rosters in the game for me . Finally, has anyone heard the in game analyst make the following sound; "AAAAAhhhhh-pffft." If so, what the heck is that?
On the "make runs" problem, a couple of things have worked for me. 1. Use L1 and X to pass, and the player passing the ball will immediately make a run forward. You can give him a return pass if you choose at your leisure. 2. Set the players you want making runs with a manual attack arrow moving forward. This can be done in the attack attitude section of the IGM.
Full Leagues! Full leagues is the most obvious improvment this game can make. If this is the best selling soccer game in Europe and Japan, there is no excuse for not having full leagues.
Re: Full Leagues! I usually don't disagree on a "suggestions" thread, but I think part of WE's beauty lies in having a ML where more great teams compete every week, rather than the (admittedly more realistic) scenario of sitting thru one domestic league match after another, waiting for the Libertadores/US Open Cup/UEFA Cup/CL matches to come up. Even if Konami had domestic leagues, someone's league would be left out, some leagues would be underrated, and you wouldn't be able to get talented players on free transfer in ML, because they'd all be on a club team. A compromise might be to offer both domestic leagues and ML (allow the user to select his ML team, the CPU randomly selects the other 39 teams), with no fee for players not on ML teams. That'd be a good way to get MLS into the ML as well.
More on GKs. I'd like to be able to decide whether my GK, when closing in on a pass gone too far for the opposing forward, collects the ball or just traps it and then plays it back out. That's an addendum to my earlier suggestions about GK distribution. Ronaldo hasn't been healthy in four (4) tournaments I've used Brasil in. I still won them, but I'd like to have Ronaldo in my starting Selecao every once in a while. I guess this is due to his injury-proneness at the time this game was originally released. I've gotten some bogus offside calls. Really bogus. That must change. There are several different beautiful stadia in South America. This is going to sound like nitpicking, but that stadium with the cage around the pitch needs to be replaced with a nicer venue. Sends the wrong message about CONMEBOL. I'd like to hear updates on other matches during the dead ball stoppages, not just at the half. That could be important in a league or tournament. It's not like a manager wouldn't have access to that info in real life, even when the matches are played simultaneously.
yes there should be more stadiums, but that is boca's stadium (la bombonera (sp?) i think) and it is one of the most famous in south america. anyway what i would like to see: 1)sign a deal with sigames so you can use their player rating system 2)try having as many leagues as world tour soccer or at least the biggest leagues. have the lower divisions for at least the big 4, have other euro leagues like dutch, turkish, french, scottish, etc, mls and a league, mexican league, brazilian, argentinian, j and k league, and at least throw in some teams from africa. 3)if fifa has all the licensing just put the teams city for the name like in world tour soccer (ie show Amsterdam in red text for Ajax) 4)copy CM's transfer system, make it harder to get players, reasons ppl want to leave or stay, make it realistic with the new transfer system (bosman ruling) 5)have unique jerseys that look close enough unlike in we6 6)more stadium, and try making them nice like in fifa, i prefer pretty stadiums to good looking players 7)dribbling is more realistic in WE6:Final Evolution than in WE6 but try adding more moves to, step-overs and cutting can only be so fun. and if u add moves make them realistic, not automatic or something. 8)even with all the leagues i want in the game have a huge ML with the biggest/best clubs. have it where u start in the 3rd division or around there and work your way up but also have real low divisions for the lesser teams and let the game simulate it so small teams can work their way up. 9)use money instead of points for the transfer and earnings system 10)add an option that gives u a little big of more control as a manager like in CM, interaction with the press and disciplining/praising your players, communicating with the FA, etc 11)the only things i have seen in the improved WE6:FE gameplay that i would like to be changed are long shots and volleying, it seems the game will always have u had a nice bouncing ball instead of striking it unless if you are lucky.
Re: Re: Full Leagues! So does World Tour Soccer have exlusive rights also? How can they both have exclusive rights? I read a quote from one of the developers, and he mentioned that the rights were expensive and that's why it's not in the game. Does anyone else know the facts on this?
Re: Re: Re: Full Leagues! EA has the exclusive rights to the FIFA name and most of FIFA big sanctions event such as the World Cup and European Championships until 2006. http://retailsupport.ea.com/corporate/pressreleases/soccer.html EA also have most of the leagues license as exclusive. The only league that offer open licensing is MLS like all other American sports leagues. Meaning that any company can purchase the license because they are not exclusive license. SONY does not have the FIFA license. All of the teams in WTS 2003 does not have real name or real badge and kits. EA bought over 175 individual licenses for FIFA2003. The only thing that KONAMI can do is buy individual clubs license.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Full Leagues! So Konami could put out an MLS Winning Eleven if they wanted to. I had MLS Extratime by Konami, both 2001 for the PS2 and 2002 for the Gamecube and I enjoyed them. I have WE6 by Konami for the PS2 and I enjoy it. Now I want the best of both worlds, MLS Winning Eleven 2003, or 2004 if it takes Konami that long. Please Konami, make this happen.
what would be the point of making a Winning Eleven game just with the MLS in it, i know they did that for the J-League but there is no point when all the leagues could be put it. If Konami didnt spend all its time making 3 versions of WE this year, not to mention an English version and then shipping that version under a diff name to the US, they could of put more leagues it in it. They could just buy player licenses and then name clubs by the city. So there wont be badges...oh well. Just make an option to edit team names. Doesnt it matter that much if you hear Highbury instead of Arsenal? Hell i've been playing the Jap version for months and i dont know a word of jap n it doesnt affect the game for me.
NO, NO, NO, NO MLS-ONLY GAME I don't want to be branded an MLS basher, but there is no point. What would happen if Konami put the MLS teams on top of the WE6 engine? We'd be right back where we started- sitting alone while the rest of the world has a party. Just put the two MLS Cup contenders in WE7, and toss out Bordeaux and the already-dead Fiorentina. It's not like La Liga or the Bundesliga or Brasil or Serie A or England have their own WE-style games. The whole world, seven World Cup winners, Pele and Ronaldo's country, Beckenbauer's country, Zidane's country, Recoba's country, Maradona's country, Zoff's country, countries with clubs that have been in existence since before the ball had 32 panels... their fans are content to play a videogame that features clubs from several nations but no national league, yet MLS fans have to have their own separate game? Why on earth does a seven year-old league with few fans, few players of world relevance, ugly kits and no tradition deserve a game of its own? Can't this country -just once in its lifetime- try to be part of the planet on which it sits? I'm sorry to go off like this, but this "our way" thing is going to be the death of American soccer. It's already seen hockey-style PK shootouts, clocks that count down rather than up, matches held in the dead of summer, those dumb-ass horns instead of singing, jerseys with baseball logos where the sponsor's logo belongs... how long before Michael Buffer starts every match with "Let's...rumbllllle", just before the players enter the field through a cloud of dry ice? Will an organist in the press box be next? If we force Konami to make an MLS-only game, I will not buy it. This sport belongs to the damn world, and if a five-time World champion can make do with having two teams in the game, America ought to be able to do the same.
Re: NO, NO, NO, NO MLS-ONLY GAME You misunderstand me. Yes I want MLS Winning Eleven but for more reasons than being an MLS fan. What I'd like to see in the end, is all the teams, leagues, and competitions from the FIFA series with Konami's Winning Eleven gameplay. I think it's a safe assumption that most everyone would like to see that as well. Now I know that is not going to happen as long as EA holds the exclusive rights. In the meantime however, Konami does have the rights to the J-league, and they have had in the past, and could have again, the rights to MLS. So what I'd like to see is the rest of the world pressure Konami to fork over the cash and outbid EA when the time comes to renegotiate. After all, if Japan and the USA can have this engine with a fully implemented license, then fans of countries with more tradition should be asking Konami why they have to deal with a facsimile of their beloved teams while an inferior engine gets the goods. So I do not want this country to be seperate from the world's party, but I simply want the best engine to have the best features. In the meantime, MLS Winning Eleven would be a foothold in the battle to secure licensing rights. And I have heard the arguement that the license doesn't affect the gameplay. That is correct. It doesn't change the gameplay. But it does enhance the value of the game in my opinion. I'm a fan of verisimilitude. And I believe that the best game engine should have the best features. I know that what I'm asking for is in all likelihood, pie in the sky. But what is the harm in asking, or dreaming about this type of product? Why shouldn't Konami be prodded to make this better? And I beleive that full licensing will make the game better. Today MLS, tomorrow the world!
Re: Re: NO, NO, NO, NO MLS-ONLY GAME It wasn't actually just you. I've read several posts (and gotten a couple of PMs) from posters who wanted WE6 gameplay and just the MLS teams. It would be disastrous if Konami gave everyone else one game and America another. I can't imagine that they would market two games here- it took them long enough to send WE6 over. Your post was simply the proverbial last straw, and I didn't quote you because I didn't want to seem like I was attacking you when it was really about having access to the same version of WE that everyone else gets. I wouldn't mind that at all- a game with as many teams and tournament options as FIFA, but with WE6 gameplay. But keep the ML as an option. I've grown to really like playing against all these great players every match. They might not have to. If they would simply use my suggestion about taking the flag layer method and using it for the uniform logos, half that problem would be solved. As for the commentary, I'm no attorney, but I can't see how a surname, whether it's Smith or Van Nistelrooy, could be considered anyone's legal property. The team names I can do without. Best case scenario- Konami just outbids EA, and everyone's happy. How did they allow EA to get a foot in the door to begin with, considering EA can't make a soccer game worth the plastic the disc is made of? Here's where I disagree. If we start to make demands that Konami release another MLS game, I guarantee you that's all we'll get- we'll never see WE again. That's what my rant was about. Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Kahn, Zidane, Real Madrid, Boca Juniors, Vasco Da Gama, Bayern Munich- the essence of the Game, never again to be seen on our shores. I don't think it's worth the risk. I think it's wiser for us to suggest that Konami: 1) replace Fiorentina and some other nonessential European team like West Ham or Bordeaux with two MLS teams for the next immediate release 2) outbid EA for the rights to the team and player names 3) release the new game down the road, complete with all the licensing, tournaments and leagues currently available in FIFA. I agree with full licensing making a better gaming experience. It does make the game more fun when you hear "(insert player's name)!" as he scores. It even looks better in the stat columns. I just think that asking them to do an MLS game will give them the impression that we want to be a soccer island, and that would set us back another 10 years. If we can hold out until they get the license for all the teams, leagues, stadia, etc., we'll have MLS where it belongs- on the same disc with all the other leagues.
next time I want A 4th division. The 3rd division would expand to 16 clubs too. Thus we would have 16 new clus total. These are the 16 I would like to see: Everton Dundee United Schalke (whatever their name is - from Germany) Polonia Warsaw Legia Warsaw Wisla Krakow DC United LA Galaxy Cruz Azul Club America Necaxa Hearts of Oak Olimpia CD ???? J - league champion ???? K- league champion ???? one more Spanish team , not sure who
ok can someone please tell me what is so damn important about LEAGUE licenses? there can still easily be leagues and clubs without having licenses. Back to legality if any lawyers are here, please help. Couldn't Konami make a team called Manchester, use similar kits to United's, and have the announcers call them "Manchester A" ("A" since there is city too). Would there be anything wrong with that? And for a player would having Ruud Van Nistelrooy called Rudy Van Der Nistel or even something that sounded more similar like Van Ristelnooy or something? If this is legal I think it would be very good.
World Tour Soccer 2002 did most of this. The Dutch players had slightly misspelled names (Rudy Vanelroy, Pat Klyverd, Ed Davis, Clark Seeder, Ed Vansaar, Overmark, Riser, are examples). Strangely enough, Bergkamp's name was spelled correctly. I don't know the reason for this. ManU bacame Manchester, while Man City became City, Juve became Turin, Arsenal became Highbury, etc. And the kits were very similar, just no crests or sponsor logos. I had no problem with it, but I would like to see the licenses go to Konami so they can complete the job. Best case scenario includes text (with font and size choice) on the jerseys so that users can create teams with the sponsor of their choice. I'd like to create a team sponsored by Campagnolo (bicycle components), Nikon, Rolex or Kryptonics (used to make skateboard wheels back in the day).
