I was able to secure tickets for my brother and I for the match on Easter Sunday. We will be coming to Tilburg from Eindhoven that morning. I'd like to know if there are any interesting things to do or see in Tilburg, other than the match of course. Are there any chants we should know before we go? Any info about the club or the town would be much appreciated.
    Cheers

Holland's biggest theme park is close to Tilburg but I doubt you'll have time enough to visit.

I like Tilburg's city centre, it has plenty of 17th century architecture. It's nice to have a wander around there but I'm afraid that on Easter Sunday, most of the shops and bars will be closed! I'd make reservations for a restaurant in advance if I were you.

Willem II is one of the oldest clubs in Holland, I think they were established in the 19th century. They're named after Willem (William) the second, the grandson of William of Orange. They're a relatively small club, it's difficult for them to compete with the six or seven other professional clubs in the Brabant province, but they do have a quality youth academy that attracts a lot of Belgian talent (they're close to the border with Belgium) . They're nicknamed the tricolores (their colours are white red and blue).

My buddy Menno did a pretty good history of Willem II. Don't worry about the fact that it's an Ajax website -- I think it's a great history.

The Ajaxusa history on all the other eredivisie clubs are quite good, if you ask me.

I agree. Menno even manages to be relatively even-handed towards 010.

It is. The only fault I can find in the Twente profile is that he left out the Rutten influence.

I've spent many wonderful hours at the cantina of the hockey club next to the Willem II stadium :D

It was always one of my favourite away games.

    Who are they playing?

Make that 19th century architecture and King Willem II 1792-1849 not Stadhouder Willem II 1626-1650. :)

Thanks for correcting me! The town centre looks pretty old in any case.

Just got back from Der Nederlands. I had a great time a the Willem II v. Heracles match. Tilburg was a nice town, unfortunately the stadium was quite a ways from the train station. Great atmosphere, nice weather, and Willem won! Hopefully they'll say up!

I also went to the PSV v Groningen match the night before. That was grat as well (although hearing Sweet Caroline in Dutch was a bit disconcerting!)
