I am going to miss Jimmy TERRIBLY! Both personally, AND on the field. His play this past year was questionable, no doubt, but that isn't all he added to this team! Jimmy was so funny, and he always made every guy on that team smile....at any time. I know this, because I have had many of the guys tell me. No more Jimmy "Bobcat, YCC, Conrad"

I am now crying...........I luved Jimmy to death........I want him back.

Hell, we are gonna suck this year anyways, we should have just kept him!

I guess the question is whether Jimmy would have contributed more to the Quakes than Arturo Alvarez. Now is Arturo turns out to be rockin' good, then we have very little complaint. On the other hand, if Arturo rides the pine and our defense sucks we'll be screaming for Frankie's head.

It's a questionable draft at best and it looks like we're going to lose some players that have been real stalwarts for us. No Conrad, no Wade, maybe no Ronnie, perhaps no Cannon. That's four starters from the championship side. I sure hope the Timbers have a good season. :(

    GO QUAKES!!

Whew. I thought I was going nuts reading this thread.

This trade was stupid. Yallop gets rid of Luchi Gonzalez then trades Jimmy Conrad for an 18 year old kid who's NOT going to play?

When Dayak and Agoos are pointed toward the pasture?

What Eddie Robinson may offer in well-roundedness, Conrad makes up for in toughness and defending ability. He had a mediocre season, but he was rebounding from injury.

With Barret possibly leaving we don't have the backs to spare and Jimmy Conrad was a champion the fans loved. He offered continuity, loyalty, ability and I'm sure he wasn't expensive. This is just stupid.

Arturo Alvarez is 17, not 18. I agree that getting rid of Gonzalez didn't make sense. He had talent and a spark in the very brief minutes he played in some really ugly 2002 Quakes games.

Robinson is tough, not soft. He's a great tackler and is terrific in the air. Conrad could have done better with his season. The reason he was out so much was because of suspension, not injury! :p He could have been adequet for us in depth in the central back spot, considering the current roster outlook. I think the problem was leadership. Robinson isn't at a point where he can lead, and I don't think Conrad can. You'd pair either Agoos or Dayak with either Robinson or Dayak.

He added the danger to the quakes.
He made me nearly throw up when the fight with Richard happened and he jumped in.
Everytime he got a card, I felt connected, in a way that said "I am just like you".
He was sooo funny, and eventhough his skills weren't always at their best, he made up for it in senselessness. He made me want to watch him more. Even though I wasn't looking at how he could handle the ball, but rather how he could handle is attitude, he kept peoples attention.

Didn't Jimmy push Ruiz into the benches in LA. Surely that must could for something?

Good luck to him in KC.

Throw the Fish was more like it. I must admit to getting a great deal of joy out of seeing that. Problem is he did not have the same finesse at judo hip-tossing opponents as Ronnie Ekelund has. Ekelund gets away with it, rarely getting caught.

    Yes. It was Cobi.

I remember telling my friend within the first few minutes of that game that Cobi was gonna get Jimmy a card.

Sorry. You're right. It was Cobi. That in fact heightened the joy.

by all of the yellow and red cards that come to Spartan nestled in a referee's pocket....

and by the stats-geek who determines how many "caution points" Jimmy accrued over one match to warrant another suspension....

later Jimmy.....you will forever be remembered as "He Who Tossed Cobi"

    Re: Everybody sing along now...

This has always puzzled me about this song. Kansas City wine? What part of a steer do they make that out of? Never mind -- I don't want to know.

The Quakes' problems started when they won MLS Cup. Everybody gets a raise after a championship but the salary cap doesn't accommodate it, so they have to get rid of people to save money.

Jimmy got a lot of cards last year but the refs were even stupider than usual. It's a bargain deal for Kansas City.

Jimmy was a faithful player to the team. He may have had his faults, but some call him having passion and heart. And more often then not Cobi deserved to get dropped. And more often then not Jimmy was always ready to defend and protect. His heart and atitude will sorely be missed. He may have been rocky but more than anything he just was happy and excited to have a chance to play out there. Sorry you guys are so quick to pass judgements. but i think that he was heart and soul. and to me that means more than how many cards he got or how he failed. He also had plenty of great happenings. so praise the good and let the bad die.

i have said it a thousand times over and over (for his favorite movie)

    *Jimmy Conrad you're my hero*

here are the words to the spongebob song.

    Captain: Are you ready kids?
    Kids: Aye Aye Captain!
    Captain: I can't Hear you!
    Kids: Aye Aye Captain!!

    Captain: Oooooooo...
Who lives in a pinapple under the sea?
    Kids: Spongebob Squarepants!
Captain: Absorbent and yellow and porous is he?
    Kids: Spongebob Squarepants!
Captain: If nautical nonsense be something you wish?
    Kids: Spongebob Squarepants
Captain: Then drop on the deck, and flop like a fish!
    Kids: Spongebob Squarepants
    Captain:Ready!!!

    Captain and Kids: Spongebob Squarepants,
    Spongebob Squarepants,
    Spongebob Squarepants,
    Captain: Spongebob...Squarepants...!!!!!!
Ho ha ha ho ha ha

and the wizards also got Josh Wolffe. i don't know what you think about that, but i think thats good right ? ;)

    KC has a killer team.
    Dallas has a killer team.
Colorado has a killer killer team.
LA has a weapon of mass distruction team.

Through process of mathematical extrapolation, I predict the Quakes are going to get killed.

You will get no disagreement from this corner. You should hear what the girls on our team who were ball kids for the LA-SJ Open Cup match had to say about Cobi: "Jerk, rude, creep, loser" and other assorted epithets. The last 15 minutes of the US-Mexico game where he got the crap beaten out of him were probably his best moment. Good luck to Jimmy. He did Jones a good one.
