Elcombo would do well not only to check his facts next time, but also check his unfounded comments (see the remark about Nicol being racist) at the door as well.

yeah that was what I was referring to...he took a 2 second peek at the roster and saw Hernandez

ignoring the fact that Simms is Guatemalan, John is from Trinidad, Smith is from Bermuda and Joseph is from Grenada...but yeah, Steve Nicol is a racist

The number of white people on the roster is slightly less than the national average. Nicol is an uncle tom.

abundis mentioned it and so did cancela. nicol is constantly getting negative remarks in local spanish radio because of his lack of interest in latin players.

    Wrong.

They mentioned how they weren't getting playing time. They never, ever, attributed it to racism.

Abundis came to the team way too ate to make an impact. He was only holding Noonan's place until he got healthy.

Cancela impressed some fans, but didn't a.) fit into Nicol's system and b.) didn't step up enough when given the chance in '05 and '06. He hasn't played in Colorado yet. Does that make their coach a racist? If you say no, you are a racist if you think that someone with hispanic heritage can't be racist.

If you want to play the victim card, blame the college system which still provides most of the league's players. Soccer is a performance-based sport, not a laboratory for social experimentation. Nicol tries to bring in players he thinks can help the team. A good percentage of them haven't been white. That has nothing to do with his "racism" that you so obviously think he possesses.

    Apparently he is.

Talk radio, in any language, is a poor source for objective evaluation.

Where? When? What station? I have a hard time believing we even get covered on local Spanish radio. The problem has been that some players, who happen to be Latino, have come in and not taken our league seriously (hello Paton Phillips and Cassio), looked bad, and then left.

I know I'm wasting my time replying to this guy, but it's a slow day at the office.

He doesn't? Where did Riley go? :p

If playing someone based on their skill and contribution to the team rather than their heritage is discrimination, then I need a new dictionary.
