    Heerenveen confirmed that strikers Will Johnson and Sebastiaan Steur will not be offered new contracts with the Dutch Eredivisie outfit.

    I didn't see this mentioned anywhere here. If Will Johnson is available on a free, is there any chance that he doesn't end up with TFC?

    Having spoken to Mo Johnston a few months back, he seems really high on WJ's talent.

    I hope not... but i wouldn't be surprised to see Will get on with another European club. Especially if he has a good u-20 WC

    They declined the option years on his contract. The club and Will are still in talks to have him come back next season...

    I see no reason why they would have lost his rights.

    Nonetheless, if he is willing to return to MLS, TFC should do whatever it takes to get his rights and bring him to TFC (not FC).

    This is indeed the case. Chicago holds Will's MLS rights indefinitely. From the Tome of Calvinball:

    http://www.mlsnet.com/about/league.jsp?section=regulations&content=overview

    ..."IV.) PLAYER RIGHTS
    The following explains the status of player rights in specific instances:

    WAIVED PLAYERS: A team waiving a player who clears waivers holds a right of first refusal to such player for 12 months from the date of his release.

    OUT OF CONTRACT PLAYERS / OPTIONS NOT PICKED UP: A team retains the right of first refusal to the player indefinitely only if attempts were made to re-sign the player."

    Emphasis=mine.

    I hope this helps. But more importantly, I hope young Mr. Johnson, should he decide to return to MLS, will be in FIRE red. In any case, I wish the best to Mr. Johnson, and to TFC, whenever they aren't playing the FIRE.

    Cheers!

    Will scored 2 goals for the first place Heerenveen reserve team today. MLS would be foolish not to make a play for him!

    He has scored about a goal a game for Jong Heerenveen this year. I can't see him being dumped by them, i'm pretty sure they'll renegotiate and sign him to a new, cheaper contract.

    He sure did! That puts his reserve tally to probably around 20-25 goals now in approx 20 games.

    7-0 demolition of Utrecht. Will was injured in the second half, but played through it and scored 2 more goals after that.
