Unless Hofstra is planning on knocking the stadium down and building something else there, you would think it would give FCNY a little more leverage to negotiate a better deal. I think the Hofstra lacrosse teams also play there, but Hofstra may not want to maintain such a large facility just for it's lacrosse teams. But if FCNY is truly planning on moving into Queens someday, then I don't know that this development really impacts them at all.
I went to Hofstra. I remember when they had plans for going I-A, hence the stadium expansion. Kind of surprising news. No mention of FCNY in regards to what the stadium would be used for.
Honestly, not seeing stupid football lines on the pitch is HUGE to me. It was huge to Freddie Ljungberg. And it shows that we take the sport seriously. If those lines are gone, then that's one positive step.
This situation at hofstra wont effect FCNY in any way shape or form....................... seeing how FCNY will never play a game.................
I think this is great news for NYFC. Stadium will probably be converted to a soccer pitch. In order for this team to make a serious run to MLS they need a good stadium. Personally I think Hosftra is a great location, and there's plublic transportation ( buses ) to the school if you really want to go. So I hope NYFC negotiates a good contract with Hofstra.
Why? They already have this: There's a chance they will still keep the football lines. They still host the LI high school playoffs and could start hosting a lot more games.
That will be turned into a American Football field for HS playoffs. The main stadium will be for the FCNY.
Why would Hofstra want to convert the stadium to a sss if they already have a sss that suits there team? It would be more likely that the school would use the land for something useful to the school.
All reports clearly state that the school isn't going to get rid of the stadium. They'll just let the other sports use it and rent it out (although it looks like they have lost the UFL team to Hartford).
