do his "special move", "la boboda" (did i get it right, someone correct me) against the usmnt?? a) yes b) no for those that dont know, he has a special move. He is isolated with a defender lets say, he moves the ball to the left with his left foot, always keeping hold of the ball (while defender is standing infront of him) then out of nowhere he moves the ball between the defender's legs, doing a tunnel. This is very embarrasing for the victim. He tried to do it in the mexico game once if not mistaken. Will he be able to pull it off against a usmnt player, donovan? Remember that this is more embarrasing than a regular tunnel, because he is isolated with the defender, the defender standing infront of him for like 8 seconds is different than doing a tunnel while you and the defender are running.
You mean a nutmeg? He may be very good at it, but I'd hardly call it "his" move. Sure, he may be able to do it, who knows, but I don't think he's going to be able to do it very frequently. And what really matters is can the US contain him, not can they prevent being nutmegged. At least that's how I see it. -Tron
I know what you are talking about, but he usually doesn't go for the meg. Most of the time he will go to the right side of the player. Its a move that is potentially embarrassing for the defender, but I have never seen him do much with the ball once he is by the defender. I'm sure he will try it a few times, but I doubt it will have much effect on the game.
I love this move. It is one of the reasons that I love to watch him play. It does seem to be original, and looks even nicer since he is left footed. Against, Mexico, I thought the field sucked, so ball the game was really chippy and bouncey. On a nice field, D'Alessandro would have more success. Be cool if LD megged him!
I hope he tries it to Danny Califf, he might get the ball through, but he'll be on the ground... moves like that for the sake of showing off are prety stupid, and you look even more stupid when they don't work.
I have to say, watching him play is a thrill and he did well today vs the yanks, but his theatrics and poor sportsmanship ruin his credibility... his diving and refusing to leave the field after his red card was piss poor... this kid is a primadonna in the making.. Hopefully he matures soon, or someone pulls him aside to set him straight, b/c I dont want to have to watch this kind of crap for the rest of his career...
Sounds like a "drible elástico" that Rivelino was well-known for in the 70s... Check the thread about Robinho and watch the video linked there (in the Beautiful Game forum). I think the first move is the one lond was describing d'Alessandro as doing.
the game is over, so did he do the move? i think he did! i think he did it early in the game against mastroeni, first half around minute 5 or 10th. (watch the tape and see if you can find it) im not sure i would have to watch the tape but i think he did do the move. Too bad the camera angle was from above you cant appreciate it enough like that.
I didn't notice D'Allesandro do the move, but I did see Convey nutmeg Argentine players twice and DaMarcus got one as well. Here's an article I wrote rating the players and whether they helped or hurt their chances with the National Team. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/NationalTeams/1044751065/view -Tron
no way ombak what robinho did vs. america de cali last wk is amazing, andres can NOT do that... tunnels anyone! no way to compare the 2 players and their game. d'alessandro is better to watch among river plate players, I still like better the game from Roman R.(now with poor Barca) he was enuf distraction to usians today.... pablo Mastroiani was born in Mendoza, not far from andres' d.
I think the true question is if he'll be able to walk after I go bust his kneecaps after his little show of class and fair play today. C14
I must say that I have seen him pout to the refs during Argie league games, so I know what you are referring to with his attitude. I was at the game yesterday and did not get a clear understanding of what transpired with his red card. I did see him go over to the Argentine bench after he wasted a few more precious seconds of the clock (something that quite frankly is smart in a 1-0 game) and then out of no where the ref told him to leave the premises. That may well be the rule, but we were in stoppage time at that moment and it seemed rather unnecessary. Next thing I see he runs across the field to the showers. Whatever led to the second yellow and therefore the red I missed. Anyway, after the game he was out with Romagnoli and another Argentine player walking around South Beach in the early evening. We were walking and ran into them. Spent a few minutes talking to them. They were very nice and gracious. There were no aires about any of these guys - something that shocked me a bit with D'Allesandro.
Very nice to hear. Simply out of curiosity, was he aware that you supported the US? If he was then it makes this even more refreshing to hear. -Tron
Yes, it had to be obvious to him. I speak Spanish pretty well (not fluently, but well), but it is obvious I am a Norte Americano.
