No, me parece que quieren ganar por el amor de patria y tratar de avansar lo mas que puedan. Las estadisticas no nos interesa.....

Chile has been one of the stronger teams in Conmebol for a long time. It was foolish for people to underestimate them entering this qualifying campaign. The notion of them actually being the worst team in South America is just plain ridiculous. Of course, Brazil might bring us back down to earth later tonight. Hopefully we'll look good. I'd be happy with a tie.

As for right now, Uruguay is clearly the worst team out of the ten. I don't remember them ever looking this bad. They'll probably get better though, and Bolivia will take over the bottom spot in the long run.

Right, but Chile wasn't even trying very hard at the end.

As for the current qualifying standings, its amazing how close all ten teams are. Want to know how close? Just looks at the "wins" column:
    3 Brazil
    3 Argentina
    3 Chile
    3 Paraguay
    3 Ecuador
    3 Venezuela
    2 Peru
    2 Colombia
    2 Uruguay
    2 Bolivia
This is shaping up to be one of the closest and most exciting qualification tournaments ever!

At the end of the 18 rounds, who do you predict will be the 5th team that plays a team from Oceania for the last place in the WC Finals 2006 ?

    Thanks.

Thanks & I understand the top 2 and bottom 1.

Can no-one here perhaps refine the list to 2 or 3 teams ?

I love the fact that people are already counting Bolivia out. I hope all the teams they play do the same thing.

Have you look at the table???[IMG]
There is NO WAY to know, from 3rd to 9th place the teams are all about the same.
Just look at Colombia, everybody thought they were eliminated, now Colombia passed Uruguay and is 4 pts from the 3rd place.

    I wouldn't be amazed if a team besides Arg-Bra gets 1st place.

    Yes I have, constantly.

After 6/7 games (about 1/3 of the qualification games) I thought some-one might have a clue as to who the middle 3 teams might be at the end of the series.

I take that to mean that at least the top 4-5 teams are likely to be within 1 win of each other at the end of the 18 WC Finals qualification games ?

    Thanks.

Did you guys hear about Australia losing to Solomon Islands just to eliminate New Zealnad. I mean c'mon that Oceanina thing is a scam, they need to be disasemble and thrown into Asia.

    5 for Conmebol.

    JuanArango82,

Please at least get the facts right. The score was 2-2 and NO it wasn't deliberate on AUS' behalf. NZ lost an "easy game" in the tournament which it should have won, that's where they lost their place in the last H&A playoffs for the champions title & the right to play the 5th team in South America for the last (32 nd) WC Finals 2006 place.

If you care to look at the Oceania Forum on this board you might just get a dose of enlightenment and not of ignorance.

I agree with you that Oceania should be merged with the AFC, not because of "the scam" but because it'd be a fairer pathway in the WC for all 12 teams in Oceania.

Well, Australia thew the game so they won't have to play New Zealand. This is coming from an Aussie in soccer gaming forums.

when you said 12 you meant 2.

Then he is very ignorant of the game & of the facts.

NO, I meant ALL 12 teams of the Oceania confederation should become part of a larger Asia/Pacific Confederation.

With brilliance & incitefulness on Oceania like this above, is it no wonder we get a bad press in South America ?

Why don't you spend some time in the OCEANIA FORUM on these boards and read some of the FOOTBALL THREADS before you post inaccurate information and statements on these boards & threads ?

    Jeez.

    :(

chico13, la verdad incomoda, pero no ofende, si bien es cierto todavia no es un hecho, para nadie es un secreto q asi como van no han mejorado su nivel de juego.

Andy T, it's really difficult to predict a possible 5th place if you'd asked me before week 4 I'd would of answer Chile or Uruguay, right now that wouldnt be accurate.

    Mario,

Thanks. Would this be more clear around the 12/13th round of the WCQ's in SA ?

    JuanArango82,

OK, but it wasn't a walkover for the AUS team on the field (just ask the Kiwis).

As he seems to have lost his ticker (but not his wallet), I'd be surprised if our precious little tulip turns up, even to a free barbeque, let alone any games for AUS. The others were actually injured with only Viduka's injury being questionable, but the Dukes has always been dead straight as to his availablility.

There were a couple of AUS players involved at various times in playoffs (eg Popovic one of the regular back 4 - was in a promotion battle which his team won from Div1 to Premiership in England). With 3 being verifiably injured, the entire AUS regular back 4 were unavailable for these WCQ's. Add to that the 1st choice strike team being absent also, then you may realise how vulnerable the team was in this tournament. Luckily a few other players stepped up to the mark (eg Bresciano, Grella, Cahill, Kalac).

I hope we do see the full AUS 1st team play H&A against the 5th team of SA ONLY if they play together for a number of games beforehand. That way they may have HALF a chance aginst a team that had been playing 18 WCQ's in SA leading up to that H&A shoot-out.

As a regular pathway for Oceania to the WC Finals, fair this is not.

    Andy T.
