I'm an Australian, and I would LOVE to see Feynoord winger Brett Emerton in the Premiership. But, it seems for the last three years, the media have been reporting that 'next year he hopes to move to the premiership'
I certainly think he has the talent for at least one of the smaller clubs, and possibly one of the mid table clubs. Leeds and Liverpool are often touted as the most likely clubs. I do not think he would get much of a go at Liverpool currently.
What are you opinions? Will he EVER make it, and if so, where to?

Yes. He will get to the Premiership.

If a Premiership thinks he is worth buying.

    If not, then he wont.

His goal against England would have helped his prospects.

If he pays his airfare, or more likely than not stows away on a ship, which would be more like the free loading Aussie bastard way. Then he could join up with fat boy Viduka, or Mr. 'Happy' Harry Kewell. Or maybe he should just sod off back to Oz, snuggle up with Shane Warne and take drugs together.

    SG-1 is pathetic.

Wow, great effort. You managed to combine racism, personal insults and narrow mindedness all in one post.
I sense a little bitterness about the recent hammerings Australians have delievered you in sporting events?

Yes. We are so bitter we got beat in a friendly. The world has ended.

Recent hammerings generally revolves round the England cricket team. But no-one cares. a pub team could beat that lot!

And of course, you beat us in the Rugby. No, wait, we did. Again.

We actually hold the rugby world cup.
And we defeated you in tennis.
    That is irrelevant, though.
It just seems that we Australians are copping a fair bit since -that- match :)

    Yep.

Do you want to know why?

    Because we can.

    It's nothing personal, really.

No, I never thought it was anything personal.
There are so many pointless comments I COULD make, but, I wont.
Lets hope for many more competitive sporting events involving England and Australia :)

I don't know what you're on about. whether it's Aussies with bizarre physical abnormality's (Thorpe) or whatever. Who gives a toss. Your sportsmen need drugs to compete (hello Warne!), lets leave it at that, eh?

And tennis, seriously, who gives a twat about that? England hasn't cared about that crappy sport for 30 odd years. Jesus, even Ecuador beat us at that. At cricket we're crap, at Rugby Union we hold the number 1 World Rankings right now (we always peak between WC's. Sad but true.), and at cricket......who cares? at least our players aren't taking drugs right now.

And as for racism, why don't you look at Aussie treatment of Aborigines before you level that gibberish at me. Australia is one of the few countries that still practices apartite and gets away with it because it's not the law. Your country is crap. Admit it. Read some John Pilger. He's an Aussie. You might learn something.

For one, when did I say I agreed with our treatment of Aborignies?
Not everyone here agrees with it.
    Secondly, you are very stereotypical.
First of all, you said that the Socceroos were Div1 trash (in another thread)
It turned out that there was only one of them that played in Div1.
Now youre saying that all Australian's are either abnormalities are on drugs. I'm glad not all Englishmen are like you, you narrow minded fool.

    (Hello Linford Christie!)

    Great generalisation.

    Keep thinking of more excuses.

Except Linford was about as competitive as a pork sausage by the time he was accused of taking drugs.

Lets face it, Australia is making strides on the football field, but we will never really know how far until they play European/S. American nations competitively, and over a period of time. I do not include Asian/African/etc on the grounds that nations can be excellent for a period, then fall back again. Nigeria is a good example. Brilliant in footy, but are struggling at the mo as they dont seem to have the nmbers of players coming through.

A win over an England that was not playing to its fullest is still a win. But against an England that was playing well? The result could have been very different.

After all, England traditionally stink up in friendlies.

I totally agree, its more of a psychological victory than anything else. But the comments made by jumhed are very stereotypical and narrow minded.

Australia is a developing football nation, plain and simple. Until we can start playing regular competitive football, as you said, it is hard to guage our real quality.

Unfortunately, I dont think Oceania really qualifies for that. I really do think Oceania should be merged into the Asian federation, and the World cup adjusted slightly accordingly. Australia may find it harder initially to get into the World cup, but they will be facing lots of tough opposition regularly to help them improve.

    You're so easy to rile.

Where do you hide something from an Aussie?

    In a book.

    I totally agree.
Oceania does not deserve direct qualification, and I agree that AFC and OFC should be merged. There are many reasons behind this, that should be obvious to most people, except for idiots like jumhed, who are both braindead and racist.

One thing that really irks me, is that the English pride themselves on a developed sense of humour, and a mean wit.

Then a berk like Jumhead makes a crack like that.

So, would Australia qualify out of a merged pan-Asian federation? Not initially, is my answer. I think it would come as a shock to them, but I'd reckon within a few competitions, Australia will be right up there with them!

I agree Devil_78. But, it would make it much more exciting to watch qualifying, far more so than 36-0 thumpings and such
