Article asking that question at mlssoccer.com http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/08/29/dynamos-davis-still-hopes-usmnt-opportunity
Seconded. The USMNT has been ignoring him for a while now, even though he hit that game winning penalty against Costa Rica, so why should he ever be called up? Let him stay at Houston and enjoy the team that recognizes his talent.
As much as I want to hog Davis to ourselves, he should be playing in the international stage... maybe next year, not during mls cup/ccl run
Called up, yes. Play 90 minutes, no thanks. Come on late to be a dead ball specialist, would like to see something like that for our guy in the U.S. colors.
He flat out deserves it after these last couple of seasons. Hard to say we wish Cameron to be allowed to go overseas, but not wish Davis the chance to play for his Country.
Davis is the perfect guy to give you 15-20 solid minutes and is one of the best free kick strikers in the US pool. Have thought he was the perfect guy to have on a roster like the Gold Cup last year and you bring him on if you need a goal late. I don't think he is on Klinsman's radar however, that ship has sailed.
As a strict US fan, I'm going to say no. In a qualifier situation (assuming full health) who would you put Davis in for? We already have a very dangerous deadball specialist (who needs a good swift kick in the ass, but that's another rant), we have people who can thread the needle as good, or better, than Davis. If Davis were 24, I'd be wondering why he didn't get called up. At his age though.....ship has sailed. That said, if injuries were to mount, I could see him filling that slot. At least in a qualifier.
Who? Donovan is about the only one who comes to mind. I agree he probably won't get called up, but I don't think that he is past it and has actually come into it the last couple of years.
agreed-but as someone said, I think that ship has sailed. Doesn't mean he's a bad player, just not in the cards for him. Think Jason Kreis. BTW-speaking of those types of guys-did anyone see where MLS goal king, Jeff Cunningham, is nowadays? I had to laugh when I saw it.
Brad Davis is playing the best soccer of his life. Way better than he was those few times he was called in several years ago. I definitely think he should get a chance. You never know what he can do for you unless you give him a chance.
I had a dream that Brad Davis got a call-up for the next round of qualifiers, or maybe January. It's coming.
