well i made one, and they deleted it cus they considered it a club. i think they needed more reason on why it is significant. but i also looked and Sam's Army is on there and some MLS supporters groups are on there so i definitely think we should be on there. i can't seem to find who to contact to plead the case cus i waited a few days and lost the contact. so if someone else wants to try, just bring up why we should have our own page if it gets deleted.
The mods on wik for the most part are jackass, but I think that when you go to make up the page as long as it is done well with all the right info they should not mess with it, most of the time.
maybe but i think i could also get blocked. also i don't want the american outlaw page to irritate the mods there, that's not what we are about. hmm probably. i got a notice saying it was deleted, but did nothing about it for a couple days and lost the contact. so if it happens this time i'll get right on it. i can try again if no one else wants to do it. also what do you guys want in it? anyone have any good pictures? would the one with Jozy Altidore with the bandana be good? i need ideas!
Well, yeah you really can't just write something without references and expect it to not get deleted. There are also certain people and groups you can talk to on wiki that will help. I was waiting on some people to help me write up the article... seems they forgot. Right, Garrett?
Yeah, some of the people are jerks. Same thing happened when I wrote the Midnight Riders wiki page. It got rejected like three times.
I suggest as many people try as possible. As far as content, I request the founding members come up with a backstory, and the creators of the page can continue, they can't deny us forever. Sam's Army has one...lots of other support clubs do, and many businesses do...therefore, eventually, wiki will give in...they just need a reason. US Soccer is technically a business btw
Added a bit about the supporter's groups to the USMNT wiki page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_men's_national_soccer_team#Supporter.27s_Group
hey good idea! i sent a message, but have not heard back yet. i think i'll try again soon. what do you guys want in it? if someone thinks they could do a better job, feel free. i don't want to mess it up.
15:44, 16 July 2009 SoWhy (talk | contribs) deleted "The American Outlaws" (A7: Article about a group or club, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject (CSDH)) Taken from the deleted page. Doesn't this guy know who we are. Our significance should speak for itself.
What a asshole, but anyway I think that as long as people keep making the page that they will have to take at some point. I can do a little bit on wik. and I would like to help with the page.
No, if you keep making the page, the only thing that will happen is that we will protect the page from recreation. We being the administrators of Wikipedia, of course. I am currently one. So that's the worst thing you can do. (oh, and that's just a form message for that kind of thing) What you need for a Wikipedia article is articles about the American Outlaws, indicating their importance. For example, when the reason why the article on the Midnight Riders (The Rev's Independent Supporters Group) is still around is that there's independent, third-party articles from the Boston Globe and Soccer New England on them. Get a couple of them, and don't try to make the American Outlaws article a voluminous history. I have other things on my plate, but if you can get me those references, I will work on a version that hopefully will pass Wikipedia's notability guidelines.
Thanks a ton Fozzie. http://journalstar.com/articles/2009...t#blogcomments http://www.insidemnsoccer.com/2009/0...l-miles-to-go/ Those are the only two I know of. This isn't really the highest priority thing, so whenever you get around to it would be awesome. Just let us know here.
