Albion's promotion rivals Wigan Athletic have put in a £2million bid for striker Jason Roberts, currently on loan at Pompey. The Latics have told the Baggies they want to agree to a transfer fee by Thursday, or the deal is off. It's a low price all things considered, but a fair one given that Roberts does not figure to pull on a Baggies shirt again. However, I would be quite reluctant to sell to a promotion rival. If Jason finds the form in the First Division he has been lacking in the Premiership... Payback for our taking Horsfield perhaps?
The Birmingham Post report that a deal with Wigan for Jason Roberts will soon be finalised at a fee of about £1 million. Cheaper than I had hoped, but at least we are getting something.
He's gone http://www.wba.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10366~473684,00.html Apparantly we've made more out of Roberts than if we had sold him to Wigan in the Summer.
Erm... good riddance? No I'm not happy to see Roberts go, especially to a team that is challenging for promotion from the First Division. But the enmity between Roberts and Megson was apparently too much to overcome. I guess Jase is now placed on the enemies list of ex-Albion players with the likes of Peschisolido, Bull etc.
