Blatter will step down from FIFA before the 2014 World Cup. You heard it here first.

If he's smart enough he will not want to hear a resonant "Ei, Blatter, Vai Tomar no Cú! (Hey, Blatter, Take it Up Your Ass!) echoing around the world from the stadiums.

This is how to change FIFA, Brazilian style.

For any outsider to association football that is following the events down there and thus wants to witness how powerful/important a National Team is, wait till the Brasil vs. Uruguay semi-final set for midweek. If the protests heat up this week leading up to the big semi-final, cops start going heavy handed, to all of witness the nation shut down to actually watch their boys advance to a FIFA Grand Final on home soil and then Brasil find a way to lose!
    Nation's streets go DEFCON 1.

If it happens, which is a massive if, the scheduling would be much better. There is the experience of 2 World Cups, plus seeing Japan/Korea organization. The biggest difficulty is somebody coming to the US used to experiencing good public transport.

Holy Havelange -- I just ran across this factoid and had to share:

    FIFA World Cup total cost
The total cost by country of the last FIFA World Cups (including stadiums, transport, security):

    General costs
    [IMG] Brazil (2014) US$ 14 billions (1st)
    [IMG] Germany (2006) US$ 6 billions (2nd)
    [IMG] South Korea/[IMG] Japan (2002) US$ 5 billions (3rd)
    [IMG] South Africa (2010) US$ 4 billions (4th)
    [IMG] France (1998) US$ 340 millions (5th)
    [IMG] United States (1994) US$ 30 millions (6th)

So South Africa actually did a fantastic job keeping cost down, good for them, they still hold a bunch of stadiums to big for their needs but hey nothing can be perfect.

Mexico may need Brazil's automatic WC spot.
