Footy or anyone else: it always bugged me that he never got a chance, or rarely (if ever?) got called up. Granted, for a while both Lehmann and Kahn were ahead of him in the pecking order, but I still feel that he could've been the 3rd-stringer easily. He's very highly-rated, etc.. What gives?
maybe they didn't like his "look"....? I'm guessing it had to do with an attitude they didn't like from him? Or maybe the NT coaches had their heads in stuttgart's dressing rooms?
I thought the same about Stephan Klos. Not for the #1 nor #2 but he definetly could have been Germany's #3. Germany had some great keepers then (still do) with Kahn waiting on the wings for Koepke to retire.
Metro, Weidenfeller basically screwed his chances when he moved to BVB to sit behind Jens Lehmann. And even though he was the best keeper in the Bundesliga for his first two seasons as our #1, the German stage belonged to Kahn and Lehmann. And despite squid's comments, Weidenfeller not getting a shot had nothing to do with his attitude nor did Hildebrand being picked as #3 have anything to do with his being at Stuttgart. Hildebrand was simply the media's darling. Was he better than Weidenfeller? In my opinion no, but Hildebrand is who they chose and the gap between the two wasn't big enough to make a fuss. Cris, as far as your statements on Klos, he did spend some time as Germany's #3. He just never got to play. He f#cked himself when the f#cking son of bitch deserted us in the middle of the 1999 season and went to Rangers. Mother f#ck Stefan Klos.
Yea, I thought the same thing about Klos (that he should've been a squad member: same thing I thought/think about W'feller). Thanks for the info guys (specially footy). Well, at least I got him as my starter for Deutschland in PES/WE.
Squid, there were all kinds of rumors about why Klos demanded to leave. Everything from just money to his wife had an affair with teammate Wolfgang Feiersinger and was pregnant by him. I think things just started coming apart with that team and Rangers made him an offer he couldn't refuse. However, he wanted to take Rangers' offer so badly, he even offered to buy himself out of his BVB contract. Whatever it was, he wanted to get out of town and fast. And no, I never believed the Feiersinger story and never will.
Klos is part of some business venture in Switzerland. He made a lot of money with Rangers. More than he would have made with us. Honestly, I think Klos just needed to get the hell out of Dortmund. He was born there, raised there and probably didn't want to spend all his life there.
could very well be the case of a lot of issues he had with dortmund rather than the club or teammates. Not many people are in this situation with their clubs nowadays
