Because we lack a REPUBLICANS SHOULD NOT START NEW MEDIA COMPANIES thread . . .

    https://www.politico.com/news/2021/08/02/trump-gettr-social-media-isis-502078

So far, GETTR has been the highest-profile pro-Trump platform launch, given the names behind it: Jason Miller, former Trump spokesperson, is its chief executive, and the site is partially funded by Miles Guo, the business partner of former Trump advisor Steve Bannon. Trump, himself, is not directly involved in the operation, nor has he officially signed up to the platform. The social network has touted a “free speech” policy that, purportedly, would allow users to fully express themselves without the censorship of tech giants.

Okay, so far, so good. But the next paragraph says, not long before NOT GOOD!

. . . this MAGA exodus to fringe social networks that champion unfettered speech has also caught the attention of supporters of Islamic State and other jihadist groups.

In response to questions about jihadi material being shared on GETTR, Miller told POLITICO that ISIS was attacking the MAGA movement because Trump had destroyed the group militarily. “The only ISIS members still alive are keyboard warriors hiding in caves and eating dirt cookies,” he said in a text message.

And yet, Jason, they're using your platform to post beheading videos and to recruit new members to the dirt-cookie club. Though to be fair . . .

The overall amount of terrorist propaganda that POLITICO found on GETTR represented a mere fraction of the mostly right-wing content — which also includes the promotion of the Proud Boys white supremacist movement. More mainstream conservative influencers and policymakers like Sean Hannity and Mike Pompeo also regularly post on the platform.

Still, the fact that such jihadi material was readily available on the social network, and GETTR’s failure to clamp down on such extremism, underlined the difficulties that the company faces in balancing its free speech ethos with growing demands to stop terrorist-related material from finding an audience online.

I've written it before, will write it again ... these people are destroying the future of U.S. Christianity. The percentage of young Americans who describe themselves as Christian is plummeting, and will continue to do. as long as aggressive evangelical Christianity is the face of the American version of the religion.

It is a real shame that what ultimately constitutes a small, yet very vocal and visible minority, represents the whole in the face of many.
It's the same with Islam and those who believe that religion is about fanaticism, violence and hate...

Very small, very vocal... and because they are most likely to generate clicks, very visible. Good call.

People been comparing Republicans to the Taliban for a long time. Markos Moulitsas (the "Kos" of Daily Kos) wrote a book on this comparison called American Taliban which was published in 2010.

    They never learn.

Biden met with Israeli PM Bennett in the Oval Office. There's a clip going around of Bennett speaking, and Biden is listening, with his head down. He's nodding a little, and slightly moving his hands, but just trying to pay attention.

Naturally, there's also an edited version of the clip going around making it look like Biden's fallen asleep during the meeting, and the usual suspects think they've got a gotcha.

    Oh, the humanity...
