Why so few double-headers in Columbus?

I'm not one for puffing up attendence numbers moreso than they already are, but doesn't it just seem logical to have a national or club friendly double header with some of our games if not only to have those "other" fans get a taste test of MLS/Crew?

This is just one more thing you'll see more of if I actually land a job with 'em.

They're having a US double-header in Chicago, so it's doable. Of course, USSF may have some pull there to get the most bang for their buck.

All I'm asking for is maybe an A-league game against our "reserves" or something...

cause that would really boost the attendance...

A-League side vs Horrifying MLS sides players who cant even make the starting XI.

The Crew will never have a double header with the US National team. When other teams in the league have double headers, MLS and the USSF split revenue, and I imagine it would be split 50/50 (the other arrangememt I could imagine would be for the MLS team to be guaranteed "typical revenue" and any additional revenue would go to the second game).

Our capacity is 22,500, meaning our ticket revenue would be capped at 11,250*price per a ticket, which in most cases would be less than a "normal" crew match. On back to back days, we pulled in 13,500 for the crew match, and 9,000 for the US Match. How many of those 9,000 Sunday fans would have been willing to pay full price for both matches on the same night? Certainly not all 9,000 of them. It's a lose lose for both the Crew and USSF.

Same goes for any other double header. Will the additional ticket revenue cover the expenses for the other two teams? Doubt it.

Simply put, there is little to no chance a double header will double ticket revenue in CCS for a given night, something that the other clubs hope for.

Chicago seems to like doubleheaders- they having one with Morelia and another Mexican team coming up shorty.

Like diablo said, it makes more sense for Chicago. Chicago is also struggling to get more than 13k at any game this year. Outside of Section 8 it seems like nobody gives a damn about the team. How that will get better when they play in Bridgeview I have no idea. Maybe the mob will exert their "influence."

Must be a Lamar Hunt thing. The Wizards have only ever scheduled two doubleheaders. The big one (with the WNT) ended up being one of the games canceled after 9/11 happened. The other was a friendly last season between the Crew and Santos Laguna, not exactly the Colombia/Argentina type matches the MetroStars seem to have every month.
