Was there a trade with DC United?

I don't follow soccer as much as other sports... just wondering why we don't have the first pick.

There were two trades with D.C. United. During the season, Dallas traded Ronald Cerritos to D.C. for Ali Curtis and D.C.'s 1st round draft pick this year, which ended up being number 4.

At the end of the season, after the league had signed Freddy Adu, it was necessary for D.C. to have the first overall pick so they could take Adu, who would only play for his hometown club. So MLS engineered a trade, widely derided by Dallas fans, in which we got a 'major player allocation' from D.C., and they got our first overall pick.

    Yup.

So by 9:05 today DC has the highest paid and 2nd most high profile player in MLS.

We get door #3, who if signed by Game 1 of this season would be nothing short of a miracle.
