What the heck is Sporting thinking. The new out of England this morning is that Sporting is interested in signing Teddy Sheringham. While I would have applauded the decision a few years ago, the striker is 37 years old and on the back side of his very distinguished career. I am all for getting Mario out of the Alvalade, but can we at least look for players of a comparable age? Hopefully, this is just another rumor fabricated by the English media.

This can't be legitimate. I mean SERIOUSLY, this shouldn't even be a rumor. This past summer we didn't sign anyone (note the huge hole in defense) because the team didn't have the money, but now they want to blow it on a freaking 37 year old? For the salary they'll give Sheringham, they could go to Brazil or Argentina and pick up a good YOUNG player. This is the not the way to make Sporting better.

And what about the Sporting midfield? They've been pretty horendous this year, yet Carlos Martins still is nowhere to be found? He's tearing it up on the youth national teams. At least give the kid a chance. While we're at it, in the offseason we should pick up Hugo Viana on loan if he isn't getting much time w/Newcastle.

OK, enough of my ranting. ;)
