Felt this needs a topic of its own. I haven't heard him get injured. Is it Montella favouring his buddy Doni? Is he being sold? I'm at a loss. Any answers are welcome. EDIT______________________________ Just for reference in case Montella and his entourage are reading: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zNrRRWx1iQ"]YouTube - Julio Sergio 2009/2010 INCREDIBILE ! HD[/ame] Min 1:19 should be enough in and on itself.
Because De Rossi and the other senators wanted their buddy Doni to play. Julio Sergio is not injured, Montella said Doni is the superior keeper.
there retarded Sergio is a way better keeper then Doni dont they want to win or what why would they want their friend in goal if he costs Roma games makes no sense
- most footballers are stupid - most footballers don't understand football as a whole, but only their small roles
how can a team that has players that have been together for years not understand football as a whole i mean thats Real Madrids problem and Man City's problem they have a ton of talented players but no exprenice playing with each other
I mean Honestly, a quick youtube search for Julio Sergio yielded dozens of video tributes, including this: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niu567dBrAs"]YouTube - Roma Lazio 1-0 - Parata strepitosa di Julio Sergio e gol di Cassetti[/ame] The only video of Doni available is this: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geUrH8l7Ww4"]YouTube - udinese-roma 1-3 lite tra doni e panucci[/ame]
Who says players have a great understanding of what characteristics make a good goal keeper. You think a guy like Borriello knows the ins and outs of goal keeping?
anyone remember Julio crying after getting injured in that Brescia game and playing through the pain? what a champ.
i didnt mean that what i meant was that the players at this point should see that Doni is a problem to the team and they should of seen that Sergio gives alot more to the team then Doni they should have the understanding to see that and if they dont then they might as well be playing with their heads in the dirt.
Please, please stop starting Doni. I can't stand seeing him Doni in goal. I can't stand watching him try to dribble. I can't stand seeing try to be a professional goalie. I can't stand watching him pick up balls out of the back of the net. I can't stand watching him *try* to stop a PK. Did I say that I can't stand watching him pick up balls out of the back of the net? He makes me want to vomit every time I see him.
Julio's one year career yields more incredible saves than the whole career of Doni...Certainly, we all considered Doni our starting keeper because we didn't know Julio and had only the dumber Artur as the alternative, but now, after we have seen a real keeper in our line-up we do not want to revert to the dumbs... Julio has lots of youtube compilations, so does Lobont. But Doni either has a "bad boys" video or just a compilation of his pictures...probably his fans at facebook are stupid females who like his Goofy face
I struggle to understand the phenomenon of the Doni fan. On Zampa's forums, which has a lot more traffic that we do, there pops up the odd "Doni is my keeper" thread. I just can't figure it out, no one thinks Julio Sergio is Buffon, but to not see that Doni is simply a bad keeper is beyond me. He's got an incredibly long list of weaknesses. Personally I'm just waiting for the day that he does that retarded dribble routine and someone scores on him. I'm almost looking forward to it, because it makes me so furious to see him doing that crap.
Its beyond me why Doni starts, before last year I accepted the fact we had a crap keeper and we needed to spend to bring someone in but Sergio is a beast in nets. Fair enough his form has dropped somewaht recently but an out of form Sergio is better than an in form Doni - if there ever is an in form Doni. If Doni did have video highlights of himself on Youtube more than 50% of them woud be him picking the ball up out of the net. I doubt all the players are blind to Doni's crapness. When he's playing the defence don't trust him, they hardly ever play a pass back because it'd more than likely end up as an OG. I can't remember which game it was that Doni came on for Sergio because he got injured, but as soon as he came on Burdisso, Mexes and Cassetti all looked shakey in defence. I can't understand why Montella picks Doni, I'd rather have Raneiri's deadpan football as to watching that idiot in goals.
lol His saves are not even anything to be proud of. What his fans don't understand is that his positioning is so poor that he makes what are normally routine stops, look like super saves, on the rare chance he decides to try and be a goalkeeper and not flop on the round like a dead pigeon.
"The bad thing was that we were our own worst enemies at times, as all the goals we conceded were preventable," said Doni to uefa.com. Hope the guy has some judgement left and doesn't see the others except him as the reason behind those goals...
in my opinion... with all the complaining about whether roma should be playing doni or julio sergio in goal, i can't help but think about a group of wall street executives at a bar in small town nebraska who have had WAY too much to drink and end up arguing about which fat girl is hotter. in the end, if you pick any one of them, you lose... they're both terrible. Doni is one of the worst i've ever seen. i don't think i need to explain myself to this group though! Julio Sergio isn't that much better. he had some amazing moments last year, and he's full of passion and courage, but he's not a sound keeper! even last year, he would do heroic things and then go on to make simple mistakes in the same game. i think his heroics come because he has fantastic instincts, but where he fails as a keeper is in his form. there are several basic tenets of goalkeeping that julio sergio simply doesn't have. as a result, sometimes he makes saves other keepers wouldn't because he was out of position in the first place! but, the reverse is also true. he fails to make lots of saves an average keeper would make easily, simply because they are true to technique. roma need a new keeper, plain and simple. doni isn't the answer, but neither is julio sergio!!!
Haven't you realized by now that the players on this team don't give a rats ass abuot the team as a WHOLE? Everyone out there is playing for themselves, or for their "buddies" at the moment, plain and simple. If you want to know what truly puts us behind teams like Inter and Milan at the moment, it isn't just money or depth. It's the fact that we have a squad chalk full of "professionals" that excel at acting UNPROFESSIONAL.
That is my opinion a silly argument to make. We are mid season, we can't go and buy a keeper tomorrow. No one thinks Julio Sergio is Buffon in Germany 2006. The question is simple, who is the better keeper ... Doni or Julio Sergio? In my opinion Julio Sergio, while certainly not the best keeper in the world, is clearly superior to Doni. Julio Sergio has on many occasions stepped up and kept us in the game. Doni has never been able to do that. Doni needs a team that is 120% playing in front of him. So in my opinion we are playing with the lesser keeper. The better keeper is not superman, but he's still better. In my opinion we should be fielding our best players.
I think we need a new keeper too, but the thing is at the minute we can't sign anyone. Montella can only choose from what he's given, and out of what he's given Sergio is the best option in my opinion. I'd love to see a young keeper with a good propects to join Roma, Sirigu would be a steal as him and Zamparini don't see eye-to-eye
Julio Sergio saved our asses millions of times last season and was probably the unsung hero and the man who kept us in the scudetto race....We all admit that we need a starting keeper, but J. Sergio is a decent back-up...and compared to Doni he is Schmeichel....Even against Inter (5-3 this season) he made mistakes and let in several goals but if not his heroics the game could have ended 15-3 and I'm sure that would have been the result be it Doni in the goal that evening... Just compute how many goals on average does Doni let in? It's certainly in the region of 3 - that's no good, and what's more he never makes a save of the game...some saves look good because it was a simple save but he performs it in a way that the observers think Doni has just made a wonder Doni is f*** crap...J. Sergio is a MAN and a decent keeper By the way there are rumous that we might sign Sirigu from Palermo...But following the 7 goals from Udinese he started to remind me of our Doni, and his face also started to transform into a Goofy...I'd say no!!! We don't want another keeper who has let in 7 goals in one game
i don't disagree with you... at all! i agree that js is better than doni. and i know that we can't go get another keeper right now. so with that being the case, we should be starting js. BUT, in their haste to criticize doni, several posters in this forum ARE making js out to be superman... i simply find it funny because js is a below average keeper!
