Here's my proposition on why I should run the Metros. 1st off, OZ and Nick must go. Both are clueless, OZ for being inept, and Nick for failing to see that very obvious fact. I'd bring in Dave Sarachan, a veteran coach, with a good knowledge of the American player. I'd get Ralph Perez and Brian Bliss as assistants (with Bliss handling the defense) With the coaching staff in order, the lineup needs to be tweaked. In order to do that, some changes need to be made. First order of business: Dumping a couple of players: On the dump list are: Chronopolus, Klinger and Alvarez. On the retire list are Balboa and Ramos. Diallo and Lisi are trade bait. I would trade them both to Colorado, in exchange for Henderson. I would then trade Henderson to Dallas in exchange for Zarco Rodriguez. That would do it for trades, which leaves us 2 allocations (Ramos and You Suck), 2 discovery picks and the draft to fill out the team. The Ramos allocation goes to....John Thorrington. Break the bank and get this kid stateside. The You Suck Allocation goes to....Tyson Nunez. The Honduran Striker will be the 2nd coming of Pitufo. 1st Discovery pick goes to....Alessandro Costacurta. If DC was going to be allowed to "Discover" Gazza, we can sure as hell discover Costacurta. I know some are wary of the guy due to his age, but he's still a phenomenal player and keeps himself in great shape. 2nd Discovery pick will be held until we need it, or until another team needs it and we can get something good in trade. That brings us to the draft. We have the 2nd overall pick, which I'd use on Alecko Eskandarian. He's trained with the team before, and he's get plenty of opportunity to get into the game at both striker and midfield. Some say DC will pick him 1st overall, but I'd bet money that Hudson will go with target striker Nate Jaqua since he already has Quaranta and Moreno who fit the same mold as Eskandarian. With our other pick in the first round, I'd pick up Diego Walsh to back up Williams. Depending on the talent left, I would use our 2nd round picks on defensive depth, preferably a couple of P-40 players. If a blue chipper falls late into the first round, I would consider packaging the 2 2nd rounders to move up and grab a player. That would give us the following roster, assuming that either Faria or Williams got their Green Card: 1: Addo 2: Petke 3: Jolley 4: Ziadie 5: Howard 6: Grafer 7: Davis (P-40) 8: Moore 9: Paule 10: Williams 11: Walsh 12: Eskandarian (P-40) 13: Akwari (P-40) 14: Thorrington 15: Faria (SI) 16: Costacurta (SI) 17: Mathis 18: Nunez (SI) 19: Zarco 20: Draftee 21: Draftee 22: Draftee That would give us the following lineup in a 3-5-2 Howard Petke Costacurta Jolley Zarco Paule Thorrington Willams Davis Mathis Nunez Bench: Faria, Addo, Eskandarian, Walsh, Grafer, Moore, Akwari, Ziadie I think this is a lineup deep in the bench, with power at every starting slot that can dominate the league and win a championship. So what do you think? Do I have the job? JMac
Dallas wouldn't go for that trade because Chris Henderson is a left winger and Dallas is pretty much set on the left wing. You've got Chivas Martinez starting and performing well. You've also got Paul Broome, who isn't as talented offensively, but is much stronger defensively. He's been playing left back all season, but if Chris Gbandi lives up to the hype next season, he could displace Broome at left back. Bottom line: you've got two credible left wingers in Broome and Martinez. Plus, Henderson isn't all that young anymore. Also, Dallas is going to keep Zarco Rodriguez around because he's versatile. He's can play competently at several positions, which is important with MLS' small rosters.
I have to say that Bliss is easily one of the most under-rated Metros to date....however he called Rutherford and basically the whole northern NJ area a dump and said he would never step foot in it again...doesn't look like you'd be able to land him.
The major flaw in your plan is that you don't seem to be a raging jackass, which automatically disqualifies you.
These ideas have been hashed out numerous times on these boards before, starting a thread for them is just another self-congragulatory pat on the back for yourself. We don't need CostaCorta, we need speed and ball skills along the backline. Thorington is all well and fine but he has been less then impressive at Second Division level. If we can get him with a discovery pick, then great. If not, we need to start looking at other options (and no, an aging Stewart who plays primarily striker and with poor crossing ability is not the answer....) Getting rid of Chronopolous, while popular on these boards, is not ideal. He is a jack of all trades and while surely not worthy of a starting nod, can fill in a number of positions in a pinch and we need left footed players on this team. The idea to pick up Rodriguez is a good one and one that I have been advocating for awhile along with the Tyson Nunez pick up. Good to see that you have made it to GM all on your own...... You would keep Faria on the bench I guess? Might as well trade him then, as he takes up a valuable Senior International slot. Faria off the bench has not worked in any of of our attempts in the past, and although people want him to be our new Gio, its just not going to happen. Just because DC has Quaranta doesn't mean that they will pass on Alecko, a player right under their noses. They have Villegas and Olsen, both right wingers...Alegria and Williams, both hustle players....So don't rule out their possability of taking Eskandarian. Lisi for trade bait is ridiculous, the kid is young and has ball skills, we need that off the bench. He is a younger (albeit slower) version of Paule, and we need that late in games to hold down a lead. So, in short, you're giving up alot to get Rodriguez, bringing in an old and slow Italalian to make a backline more porous, and an proven right wing who is subpar at best. We have no left midfielder or defense on the bench and two, old central defenders. No real improvement, although I do like the ideas you took from me, mainly Nunez and Rodriguez.
On the rag lately Sweeper? Yeah, obviously alot of ideas in my original post have been hashed out here before (you upset that I didn't credit Nick for the Costacurta one too?). Some have been posted separately, none of them together. I've had Nunez in mind since qualification, so to be honest, that one didn't come from you. It's not self congratulatory either, as I just wanted to get something in one place that had the outline that I see as the best for the team. The only reason you're being anal over it, is that it doesn't follow your plan to "ditch everyone and start over. again." As for why I thought Dallas might go for the Henderson trade, Hendo can play either wing, and until midway through this season, you all weren't very high on Chivas. JMac
Yawn. No one was ever low on Chivas, he has been quality since he started seeing minutes last year. And quite frankly, a team with as many bums as this one needs to get rid of alot of players. Go ahead egghead and look at statistics all you want, but this team has problems deeper then numbers and that includes attitudes and meshing of talents. Our woes can't be solved by a couple of crappy aging Euro-has beens and sure as hell can't be solved by a fat, afraid to talk to the ESC, will lock every thread in site moderator geek like yourself. Come back when you have something new to post, and original. Thanks. I'm not upset that you post other people's crap, but jeezus, we have ten million posts on what needs to happen to this team, so post it there. Don't further dillute this board so that you can have an orgasm over your GM prowess with more wasted posts about formations and changes that will never work.
Revisionist history on Chivas. Earlier this season, when Dallas was looking at a new player, there was alot of talk about who on the team would be dropped to accommodate that player, and Chivas' name came up quite a bit. It wasn't until he started playing like an all star in mid season that everyone fell in love with him. As for the dumping of the entire roster that you propose, look at the history of every successful team in this league. We have talent on this roster. We just need to keep a good core of it together under a competent coach. I never proposed "solving our woes" by adding one or two new players as saviors. Those few new players would be the missing pieces. Cute. I'm being insulted by someone with gay porn as their avatar. I wasn't afraid to talk to anyone. I went over to the Metro section, and nobody I spoke to had even HEARD of the ESC. As for locking threads, I've locked exactly one in the last 2 months, and that was a basketball thread on the USMNT board. That's funny, your first post in this thread basically went off like you crying about not getting some kind of mention for "your" idea, so it looks like you were upset by some perceived slight. As for why this board has ten million posts on what needs to happen with this team, maybe that's because there are alot of different opinions on that subject. God forbid I "dillute" this board with talk of formations and intelligent player changes. Should I rather go with your oh so intelligent ideas and philosophy? Fine: My new, Sweeper approved philosophy on what the Metros need to do: FIRE EVERYONE. THEY ALL SUCK FROM THE TOP TO THE BOTTOM. Happy?
Crap dude, you on the rag or something? Gaffaw gaffaw....... As Eric Donner once said, a mongoloid is a mongoloid. Metro is crap. You get rid of crap. Top to bottom, the organization sucks, so you get rid of the fat. Only a few players are worth keeping, so you make like San Jose in 2000-2001 and make drastic changes. Too many egos, cancers, primadonnas and such, a minor tweak and the addition of a past great isn't going to cut it. All I'm saying is you start a thread boasting about YOUR intelligence, no need for it dweeb. Quit pretending like your ************ don't stink and you're the sensai of our little boards. Your trades are bad and you're personeel moves aren't enough. Who the hell knows why you're on such a big Chivas orgy though. Wow, hell of alot of fabrications going on there..... Ahh yes, and nice avatar smack, with verbal thrashings like that, you will be welcome fodder in the rivalry forum. I don't know if you're trying to make me gay or not in the hopes of bringing to life your wetdreams, but alas fool, not the case.
And all of that is in your opinion. Just as the original post was mine. If you don't agree with it, pass it right on by, and eventually, it will fall off the front page. There was nothing in my 1st post boasting of my intelligence. I have strong opinions on the issue of retooling certain area's of the team, and I stick to them. I think they would fix the team. You're welcome to disagree without throwing around "smack" like some attention depraved 2nd grader. Unfortunately, the big crash wiped out the proof, but back in the beginning of the season, Dallas fans WERE talking about Chivas as a limited player, and one of the ones likely to be traded or cut in the event of a new signing. That's not fabrication, that's fact. Oh no, not fodder for the rivalry forum! Please. When are you going to realize that nobody outside of that forum gives a crap about some perceived toughness you all think you have because you can insult each other over the internet. Bottom line is this: I created a thread on what I would do if I were the Metros GM. YOU then came onto the thread (that you could have simply ignored, or posted something disagreeing with my opinion in a civil tone) and started insulting me personally. Get off your high horse and grow the hell up.
next on Fox: When Mods attack BTW McCullough, if you couldn't find us with our flags, members in Metro gear, and our drummer, you either blind or just dumb....the only guy that came near our section for more than a minute got his ass whooped in the parking lot, so just shut it when it comes to you not finding us in RFK
if i were gm...... I would fire Oz and Nick, Mathis will be in Europe so I'll need a new striker, Diallo is a virus so he's gone as well as often injured Balboa, Chorno, Paule, and Faria and Moore. I would try and get Gavin Glinton and Sasha Victorine from LA for Faria, Balboa and Chrono...I would then trade Paule and Moore to Columbus for Washington and a pick. Then I would get rid of Petke and ship him to KC for Garcia...Then Diallo would go to Chicago for Kovalenko....My picks would be Eskandarian and If i had the chance Mike Magee. So heres the line up Gk:Howard Df:Jolley Df:Garcia Df:Zaidie Mfavis Mf/Dm:Victorine Mf:Lisi Mf:Williams Mf:Glinton Mf/Fw:Kovalenko Fw:Washington But then again I am not a Gm so tuff luck for me
Don't get me started.... The fish stinks from the head. The very same GM started blowing his own horn, uh, I meant uzi, despite leading his last team to the grave. This 2-time executive of the year slashed and burned his way towards attendances of less than 10K at home. The original owner, left. And the league remained intimidated. His choice of coach, was an individual who lost control of prior teams, not too many years earlier. Both being ego-driven braggards, together they used their will to turn off just about everyone. If you think that these players will respond favorably to these two, while being underpaid playing soccer in the U.S.- then you are kidding yourselves. If the SEM doesn't do what needs to be done, their flagship team, in the world's best metropolis, will continue to wallow in the swamp, never entertaining more than the folks on this board. Let me know when things change.
