    Dragging up history...

Who approached whom when it came to the move to Southlake?

And why Dragon instead of Mustang across the road? (I realize different towns, but location-wise they are equal and Mustang is a nicer stadium - not sure if it's natural or artificial, though.) Dragon's smaller, right? More intimate?

    (And I'll be a newbie until I die - I apologize profusely)

John Wagner, president (?) of Hunt Sports Group has a home in Southlake I believe. You take it from there.

    An overreaction

Ok, John Wanker was way too cavalier with this process, then, because a five-year-old could've seen that Dragon stadium was not the way to go. As well play at Maverick Stadium in Arlington.

mustang stadium, a scant ¼ mile from that plastic monstrosity, has the duel team problem that many stadiums around here have. It’s both the home for the Mustangs and the Panthers. Lake Highlands field(also grass), the sight of the Dallas Open Cup feat the much ballyhooed 14yr old phenom and his band of tweeners, has the same problem. Despite the resistance from Rick Stacy, the Burn knew that could capitalize on the saving, while taking a hit in attendance. They also wanted to brand themselves w/ the valuable middle class suburbanite soccer mom, and she ain’t taking her 2.5 kiddies to fair park after sun down for anything, much less a below .500 soccer team.

    Neo?

LOL - we're Burning money! (What money?)

Thanks for the info, though. It starts to make (a little) sense now.

Well, she ain't taking them to Southlake either.

And actually, I see fewer kids at the games now than I did at the Cotton Bowl. Even for pre-game ceremonies there are fewer kids.

Why Dragon? Money. Relatively cheaper rent. Keep all money made on game day.

What they didn't count on was the fans recoiling at the whole thing and attendance dropping 50-66%.

I must be in rare form, then. I generally like to think of myself as the Super Spare of Big Soccerdom.

How long 'til the Hard Line gets back from vacation? Bad Radio during drive time kills me.

And that kills me, because I think a five-year-old could've figured this one out. My first look at Dragon and it was suddenly clear why attendance was so low.

this really belongs on a PM since 90% of posters are sitting at their cubes w/ a big question mark over the heads.

Sterminator is much better than Rocco, so that alone makes me less averse to dry dock. I met Bob & Dan at el-fenix in grapevine once. Since his mother is next door neighbors w/ Brad Friedel, you can only guess about the lashing I beat him w/ on soccer talk. He's actually a fan of the sport and if you listen, he drops soccer takes from time to time. he's a good fellow, but let me tell ya....he has a face born for radio ;) He's only one year older than me but he looks not a day over 45.
