Your rhetoric is unfounded and unacceptable.

No! Bouna is not yet a great goalkeeper. He is a young, very athletic one who needs to mature into his role. Under the guidance of a good goalkeeper coach his tactical sense & positioning will improve and with his athleticism he could become a great one!

Bouna Coundoul 2007, 3rd in the league in Goals against average, and 1st in saves made and get this: In his first year of starting.



Also a very solid player for his national team.

I agree that Bouna made too many rookie mistakes last year. When a GK makes them, you notice. But I thought considering the number of SOGs he faced, he did well enough. The question is who can we bring in as a GK that would be better? And what would their price be? For example, Joe Cannon is not 7 times more than Bouna. But he makes about 7 times more. Salary aside, what would it cost to get a new goalkeeper? The Fire and DC both lost their GKs and had to go out and find new ones. It seems Chivas USA is a hair away from losing Guzan. For all the talk about America producing great GKs there aren't a lot of experienced talented ones around in the MLS right now. I mean, just think of it, DC United traded Bobby Boswell for Zach Wells. Who could we actually trade for and what would we have to give up?

 

I dig the African wear. I think he's a great character for the team on top of the fact he's a top notch goalie. I also think he's a great rep for African folk in Denver.

I don't think we will have him for long.

Maybe if he moved to a better $ contract he could get a 2003 Acura.

Bouna just played in the African Cup of Nations after only having one year of professional experience. Senegal wasn't eliminated because of a bad goalkeeper, he only allowed one goal in the final match but his team couldn't find the net.
