What do all of you people think about the crappy new uniform for the galaxy? Why is it that MLS teams can't stick with one uniform and stay with it. There is hardly any identity with teams anymore, with the exception of a few. I hear Euro trash teams do not change their uniforms hardly ever, and if they do it is a very slight change, and for the better. It just would be nice if MLS have some stability with their team uniforms. Bitch me out if need be, but i know some of you out there wanna puke at the Galaxy's new uniforms.
Just like anything in life, if you're fed enough of it, you get used to it. By mid-season you won't even remember or think about last season's uniforms. Hell, aren't you glad we got rid of the ones from the inaugural season? Uniforms in Europe change slightly every year, and most fans think it just makes it interesting and gives them something to discuss. Look at it this way - if they hadn't have changed uniforms this year, what would we be talking about right now?
It is about money my friend. In England, the national team and the clubs change their kits evry two years or so. It is about cash.
And people silly enough to keep on buying that stuff. Away kits change every year, that's nice. But there are teams that change their home kits as well. PSV for instance. It's always red and usually there's some white stripes in it. But it changes every year.
Changing slightly I have no problem with. But changing your basic team colors, where's the tradition?
Ah, the puked up salsa multicolored ones! At least the Metros had the good sense to keep theirs mono-chromatic! The only decent uniforms from the first year were DC's. LA will be the only team with green this year since Colorado is turning "black and blue". The new green isn't that far off from juniper is it?
Most clubs change them every season; often the change is slight, but enough so there's a distictive difference between jerseys from particular years. MLS clubs actually change jerseys relatively infrequently compared to many clubs. It is, indeed, all about selling jerseys. Look at it this way, for you buying a new jersey every year is a method of supporting your club...and c'mon, we're not talking a large amount of cha ching in the grander scheme of things. If it's for the good of your club/league, it's the right thing to do.
kits always change. the old galaxy kits and colors were hideous. the new kits actually look good, imho. the new kits will help kick off the new era at the new victoria st stadium. how could that be a bad thing?
Exactly. You can often associate a certain color or style to teams. Milan are the red and black stripes, Liverpool wears the Red, Barca are the red and blue, etc. This is what MLS should strive to develop, a sense of continuity. As I mentioned elsewhere, they have done the best job thus far with the Fire, DC United and the Crew. Hopefully, the Metros and Galaxy will stick with these designs and colors. There is plenty of room for designing year to year within the framework of red and black stripes or green and yellow diagonal stripe.
LA's colors sucked in the past . I always thought that LA's colors sucked. What was that anyway? Teel? It was wretched to the eye. Atleast, IMO, they now have a classier Green color. They got it right in my book. Fire's uni's look good to, same basic theme.
Hopefully we can apply this logic to MLS games. Maybe if enough people keep seeing MLS games on TV then they'll get used to MLS instead of bashing it. Maybe they'll even like it. In any case, I like the new Galaxy uniforms. Though I do agree that if MLS wants to build teams with "tradition" it should limit the number of times uniforms change and the extent with wich they change. Especially if they want to build an identity with the community.
then if they suck then why don't they come up with a good uniform? you just gave an illogical answer.
i think Metros have had the same design for the past few years. I remember 2-3 years ago, the stripes got wider, but no major changes. Crew has the black and yellow look. Fire has the all red and all white look. They added more color to the white jersey and the collar addition, but nothing drastic.
I'm still trying to figure out why the San Jose Clash, then changed their name to the San Jose Earthquakes in a bid to preserve the rich history and continuity with the beloved NASL team, and promptly picked Blue as their predominant color, instead of the traditional, and much more classy, red and white.
no, maybe you missunderstood my point... the question was qhy do uniforms keep changing??... and my response was because all of the suck... right?? when the uniforms in MLS stop being something to laugh about (some, not all, of course), the quick changing will stop.... (i think...)
