Honestly, the Dallas Burn had an amazing side. I have seen many posts that say he has done a bad job down there. What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me. The team is great. Pareja has never played better. His acquisition of Morrow was brilliant. Johnson seems to have grown into a player. Same with Chivas and Vaca. All under Jeffries. What more could you ask for honestly?

I'm sorry that I had such critical thoughts about Mikey. I'm sure he's a great guy. My most humble apologies to his family and the entire greater Dallas metro area.

    Sincerely,
    Tim

Because he made a stupid gamble, rested his main squad for an MLS match, for a US Open Cup Semi against the Galaxy, then had another MLS match 3 days later. He lost all 3 games. He took a gamble with the regular season, at a time where at win in the intial match of that trio could have put the burn on top of the western division, in attempts to make it to the open cup final, his gamble failed horribly, and they slipped into 3rd place in the west. The team was NEVER the same after that.

I agree that this was a disastrous decision, but it is not the reason for the surprising lack of affection for Jeffries in Dallas. I think that the main reason is that his personal style is sometimes seen as too soft-spoken and passionless. That in itself would not be a problem, but during his tenure there has been a disturbing tendency for the Burn to begin games listless, unfocused, even uninterested, and it has cost us several times. I think some feel that it is Jeffries coaching style that causes this. It's really the only possible knock against him.

I've criticized him as much as anyone, but right now I'm hoping that he continues to grow as a coach and learns to overcome this weakness. He's a smart guy (MBA, worked as financial analyst for Merril Lynch) so I don't think this is too improbable.

I think that too much of the blame for the team's listless beginnings of matches and their consistent lack of killer instinct when they had a chance to win a "big game" goes to Mike Jeffries and not enough goes to the Burn players.

Yeah yeah yeah. But am I the only one who didn't have a problem with David Dir?

Right now, both look pretty equal to me.
