    Isn't Toulon a tournament for U-21 teams?

We did send a team last year, but I'm thinking of a different tournament.

The U-17s played up around Bordeaux last year in April. I remember that Guillermo Gonzales (was that his name) scored a few goals and we lost to Peru or Argentina...it's all hazy now

Anyway, that was actually what I was talking about, so this thread is a mistake. :)

That would be the Mondial Minimes Montaigu.

Well, the 86s (majority of U-17 team) weren't eligible for that tournament this year. Plus, I'm sure you need to be invited to attend that tournament.

    *Toulon is a U21 tourney.

*The US didn't send a team last year.

*The US last sent a team in 2001 as prep for that year's WYC. The team featured Case, Gooch, DJ, but no Landon or DMB. They beat Italy, lost to Colombia and tied Holland and didn't advance.

*I was told that the date to commit to this tournament was before the decision to postpone this year's WYC. At the time, that meant the tournament - which is usually this time of year - would have been after the WYC so it wouldn't have done much good as a tuneup.

*The US could have played anyway but didn't want to have to pull so many players away from MLS, particularly when the senior team is already causing a lot of call-ups.

*In the future, I would like the Toulon folks to always have the tournament serve as a WYC tuneup (in odd years, of course) and for the US to always use it as such.
