Except for the whole "boring and repetitive and derivative" thing. So, no, it's really NOT a best of both worlds unless both of those worlds happen to exist solely in your belief system.

Seattle Sounders FC, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Melbourne Victory FC, Wellington Phoenix FC... boring and repetitive? It's the exact same thing as Seattle Sounders, Vancouver Whitecaps, Melbourne Victory and Wellington Phoenix, they just tack on two letters to appease the europhile set. How many people actually say the full names out anyway?

Just call the team Phoenix City Soccer. This way we can have a nice new abbreviation instead of FC, AC, or SC. Plus, we could stay away from United, Real, Inter, Atletico, or any of that nonsense. Also the crowd can have a three syllable chant of P-C-S.
