Exactly. Players have an easy escape, just get the ball to Kroos.

I questioned during the match if he was injured and we were hiding it.

    This may be the case.

The coach insisted it was technical. I can't for the life of me someone be that stupid to bench Kroos and not even put him on.

I’d love to know technical in what way, would be very interesting to hear the technical reasoning behind such a move, that, apparently, makes sense to ZZ

I have to believe Zidane said what he said about Kroos to not give any advantage to Setien. He must have been injured, he has to have been.

As poor as he was against City, he was just as good last game. Immense performance.

I think it depends on who's he is paired with.
he seems to be much better with Kroos and Fede in midfield, in fact the whole team seems much better with that trio.

My theory for Modric starting over Kroos against City is that Luka is better on the defensive side. While Barca’s danger mainly comes from the wings (and thus he kept Vini/Marcelo and Fede/Dani to double team there; City’s danger often comes from the 10s (De Bruyne, Silva, Bernardo) and maybe wanted a more defensively dynamic midfield 3.

I can also see if I were Zidane that maybe he felt he doesn’t lose too much in playing Luka instead of Kroos in midfield, keeping Kroos 110% for the weekend game. In hindsight of course, Modric had a forgettable game. Thats just my theory.

I love Casemiro. I remember when he appeared in Sao Paulo a loooong time ago and I thought he was a big fraud and so did the media. I recall his attitude being a huge problem. Now he's the best in his position. Amazing.

    Casemiro was considered a problem.

However in the roght environment he has flourished.

Same would have occurred had Neymar's father not blocked his move to Madrid.

I’m surprised by some of those numbers. Like how good he’s doing with Long passes. Hmmm. Look at how much he’s dominated the defensive metrics. Jeez. That’s Michael Jordan stuff.

Pity that we were about to waste a galactic season from this man before the world ended.

Stats don't even tell half the story there, Casemiro has been a key midfield player for one of the best teams in CL history.

Aside from Deep Progressions sounding like a category of porn, how in the hell did they go from Casemiro having an 84% passing percentage to having under 60%?

DP takes intp account the passes, dribbles and carries into the opposition final third per 90 minutes.
84 was the passing in overall play. DP is almost always lesser for a midfielder.

True, but that infographic displayed performance comparison matrix for the current season only.
