1. did you play Donovan on the right?HE IS NOT A RIGHT-MIDFIELDER!!!!!!! When we know he plays better in a center attacking role or as a second striker. 2. play with the mentality of counter-attacking against Mexico? We are at the point where we have the players to play a match where we are the one imposing our style of football against opponents like Mexico. Mexico yesterday once again had most of the possession allowing them playing their style of football and make them more dangerous than they really are.
He's played the last few games over there. I think that serves us/him better. What's the point of having him play striker and recieve the ball with his back to goal? His speed and dribbling are second to non on the team. Might as well put him in position to be dangerous.
For the same reason Bruce Arena play Beasley on the right side against Czech Republic they do thing base on hunch instead of experience ....
Mexico is probably in the top 3 in the world at possession soccer. Believe me, Bradley did not tell his troops " let Mexico have the ball!"
You are wrong. Since Bradley first took the helm every game we have played against Mexico the The USNT has played with the mentality that we wait for Mexico to make a mistake when they have possession to pounce. Bob Bradley has to be one of the most delusional managers in history. You started two inexperienced defenders on each side, you started Bobby Convey when he can't even get a game at Reading, but you bench Feilhaber who isn't getting a game either. You could have easily started Adu on the left and Dempsey on the right (which by the way is his natural position) and placed Donovan as the second striker (which by the way is his natural position).Sometimes I wish the USNT had pressure from the media to perform well so that Gulati would actually fire him. The worst part is that we are stuck with Bradley for the four years.
You obviously have poor reading comprehention. When Bruce said Mexico are excellent at possession soccer, he didn't stutter. It's not like Bob can magically tell the troops to break up Mexico's possession and go toe-to-toe with them. It doesn't work like that. You might be one of the most delusional postyers in history. His hand was forced. Who in the gameday squad would have you started instead of Moor and Corrales? He started 13 straight matches for Reading until the Saturday before the Mexico match. That's hardly "not getting a game". That statement makes no sense.
The empty bucket formation with two d-mids negates any attack through the middle of the park. And Dempsey and Donovan need to switch positions. Demps is excellent at ghosting in from midfield for his scoring chances. Other than that, Bob has been excellent.
i don't think switching dempsey for donovan is the answer at all. LD is not a striker. As for LD at RMF, who else?? Same goes for our RB and LB, who else. Specter, left off roster for China, Churundolo (hurt), Simik (hurt), Bornstein hasn't played for months. So who else at the back?
If Bob really cared about US soccer he would step down. The Empty Bucket formation doesn't help us. I feel Bob under estimates how good our players are and can be. It's not rocket science to know that Donovan is a CAM. Or if Bob wanted Donovan at Foward He could put his son at CAM.
I understand bob didn't have the best selection of men for the Mexico game, but I don't think Corrales has shown anything, especially in the Mexico game to warrant Pearce not being in. We had and an option there and as bad as Corrales was playing he didn't pull him. Bob's experimenting, I get it, but how about changing up the formation some.
If you really cared about US Soccer you would stop posting this nonsense and stop acting like an idiot. Who made up this "BUCKET FORMATION?" nonsense anyway. It's a 4-4-2 for god sakes. That night against Mexico we had several players out from injury or not fully fit to get back from their injuries. If you really look at that match against Mexico 2-2 is a fabulous result with the problems they had and the two outside backs that were out matched on those two goals by Megallion. Will this happen again? Not till we face Mexico in the final round of qualifying. There is a difference between Bobby Convey & Benny Feilhaber. Feilhaber can't get a game yet he is working hard to crack the first squad at Derby, while Convey has an arrogant attittude and is starting to stink up the joint at Reading. Reading gives Convey all the chances in the world & squanders them while Derby doesn't want Feilhaber anymore. It's called having a brain while giving your two cents worth, try and find it if you can, because it seems you and half the supporters for the US are still screaming for his dismissal. Once again I am asking all the anti-Bradley supporters this one and only question. WHO IS COMING TO REPLACE BOB BRADLEY?! Don't tell me that stupid article about that German coach that wants to come here. If he was really interested in coming I would've heard it from either Ives Galarcep or Steven Goff. I don't believe any of these rumor gossip mongers from Europe. It's just like a certain group of people that are trying to end a certain project and every single time someone asks them how they would approach it or what their idea is, they can't give one. It's too damn easy to say Bradley must go & when you have an idea of someone like a Mourinho, Sir Alex, Wenger, Rijkard should be our head coach & it doesn't happen. It won't happen. NO ONE FROM EUROPE WANTS TO COACH HERE FOR OUR NATIONAL TEAM! So stop crying like a spoiled brat that lost Klinsmann as our National Team coach. It's not going to happen. To be honest I will give you a name that I think can do the job for our boys and has coached within the CONCACAF Confederation and is Dutch. Here is a clue, he has told a Euro player to go and play in MLS. He actually respects our league. LEO BEENHAKKER This is the man I would accept if he was going to coach our National Team. Untill that time comes I support Bob Bradley.
You make a lot of good points here, but also I think although Bradley is not as bad people think or say he is, we still obviously could do better than him, now as far as replacing him I could agree if it was a topline manager but it is not worth it for just anybody he is doing a more than capable job, he knows the american game and player really well and is getting the younger players integrated nicely as well as things like getting youth teams on the same page all the way up to the full team, his only downfall is that he is not a master tactician, the only true replacement I could see is maybe somebody after Euro's are over this summer. Beenhaker is with Poland and is not leaving that is not going to happen. I think you also make a good point about the empty bucket, there is no such thing it is just a 4-4-2 the only problem is the twin d-mids (pretty much anytime Feilhaber isn't playing CM and we run a 4-4-2) the "empty bucket" appears when I think Bradley is really just trying to run a 4-4-2, so that could be personell more than tactics, then again you could adjust the tactics, etc. but that is another discussion.
1.So if a 4-4-2 is played with two d-mids what do you call it? a bucket formation. 2. There are a lot of coaches that would want to coach the USNT for obvious reasons. People would love to come live in the US and the money they would get ain't half bad either. People that come to mind when a replacement is considered, Peckerman (currently in Mexico coaching Toluca), Van Basten (leaving Holland after Euros), and Rijkard (for sure out of Barca after the season). The thing that hireso f this magnitude depend on is money. One of which this federation does have. It's up to Gulati to actually spend the money needed to get a manager like these instead of wasting the money for his own benefit.
1. Hate to break the news, but Michael Bradley, Benny Feilhaber, and Maurice Edu ain't d-mids. 2. You're throwing names out there without knowing if they have the slightest interest in being US manager. As for the swipe at Gulati, do you have any evidence that he "wastes money for his own benefit" or could you not come up with anything else bad to say about him?
I think it's wrong to assume nobody outside the US would want to coach our team. Why would any "class" level coach go after a job where there's already a coach in place? Come qualifying, there's no more excuses. The team better look tip top.
lol i find it funny becuase i am a die hard NY/NJ Metrostars and now NY Red Bulls fan; and i do not share the the same bias support for Bradley becuase he was once our coach as some of my fellow Red Bulls posters do. When he was coaching the Metrostars sure i was bias to him; but this is the USMNT, these are the concerns for our National Team not the local MLS team so all bias of a previous loved coach should be thrown out the window. If our system of play looks awful under coach Bradley; by which he can easily change that to make it look the way we should be playing by throwing the 2 DM midfield out the window; but he is reluctant to do that; and its a big problem. Hopefully he will change his tactics; which i believe is his only downside.
I agree he does a great job with everything except for tactics, if he could improve tactically as a coach he would be great, not that he is bad now but he could be better obviously.
Are you claiming that because he's are best player, he should be in the middle? Where does Manchester United's best player play? Where does Messi play? Players that can run at people are generally more effective out wide. Quite frankly, Landon isn't a player that likes to mix it up and when games get really physical in the middle of the field, he tends to disappear.
